Hello All
I plan on applying the Charles Drew's Entry Level MSN program. I am currently at SFSU in a post bac pre nursing program. I will be finish with the program and my pre req's in May. Has anyone else already applied or preparing to apply? Also, any individuals currently in the program that would't mind sharing a couple of things about the school. EX: typical day, clinical sites, and what CDU typically looks for when selecting nursing students?
Thanks!
Yes there is an interview and I head it is a long day. My friend who is in the program was interviewed and had to take the TEAS. I also read in threads from previous Drew applicants, here are a couple of quotes I came across:
" For anyone who went to the interview day yesterday (7/12) we have to be dressed professionally next week when we take the TEAS because we'll be meeting w/----- after."
"my interview was okay. it was really quick as we were crunch for time. i was asked the same questions that i answered on the interview questionnaire. my file was reviewed; i had all the requirements. i didn't get warm and fuzzy feelings which is what i wanted. i think i am a strong candidate--good grades, good letters of rec, met the gre requirements. i still have to take the teas (computer issues the day of the interview)"
From Charles Drew Website:
" Additionally, all candidates must be available for an in-person interview (or a phone interview if the candidate is out-of-state). The number of students admitted and enrolled every year is determined by approved enrollment levels as well as the capacity of the University and each academic department. "
In regards to TEAS V, it is a must for any nursing program, at least the legitimate ones. Same concept as taking LSAT for law school or MCAT for med school (but not the same as GRE which is optional for some Master programs).

Well good thing I'm not applying to that school! All that subterfuge about the application process AND no one answers the phone. I'm applying to programs that are up front about about requirements and expectations.
He called them and a representative said he was accepted, but nothing is really official until you receive written confirmation. Then, I read on this thread that applicants had to take the TEAS and do an interview, so I wasn't sure that his phone call really meant anything. However, based on the acceptance email that he received there will be no additional requirements like that so I think once applicants receive the confirmation email, it's all good.

I am not applying but my boyfriend is. No one ever mentioned an interview! If you are accepted, why would the school ask for an interview after the fact?
