Charity SON Fall 2012

U.S.A. Louisiana

Hello Everyone!

I know I'm early but I'm super excited to begin nursing school. I was wondering if anyone else here is planning to apply to Charity for Fall 2012? Are you done with your prereqs? Taken the HESI? What's your profile score?

I have taken all of my prereqs but it has been 6 years since I took A&P II lecture/lab so I'm taking it now at Delgado. I'm taking the lecture online and I go on campus for the lab. We have only done one exercise in lab so far and I already feel like its not going to be very easy. I took the HESI on Monday and I did pretty well so I'm done with that thank God!

I calculated my profile score and if I get an A in the A&P lecture I'll have 70 points. If I get a B or C, I'll have 65 points. I'm super nervous because when I talked to the admissions lady at Charity she told me the cut off tends to be a bit higher for the Fall semester than the Spring. From reading the forum, it looks like the cut off for Spring 2012 was around a 55 so I'm worried that the cut off for Fall will be like 75! :uhoh3:

Good luck to everyone and I hope to meet some of my future classmates!

Hey guys this might be a stupid question but does anyone know if we have to wear our clinical uniforms on the 21st???

Another thing that I'm very worried about is bringing any reference books into the clinical setting....if we buy those ebooks will we be able to bring our laptop or iPad??? Also blackboard when do we have access ??and how do we know in what order to do our assignments??? ....I have all these question and no answers

Sassy.Bones we do not have to wear clinical uniforms on the 21st. You may need your nurse pak or other tools we have to buy, but you will know once you read blackboard. We are supposed to have access to Bb on the 13th. You cannot bring any electronics to the clincal site. If you need to look things up you have to go to your clinical instructor. Anyway you should be researching your patient and their medicines the day before you go to clinicals, which would be Mondays.

Anyone still waiting on financial aid? I've turned in all paperwork but still have no awards showing. I've gone to financial aid and they keep telling me I've done everything and to keep watching my email. One week tuition is due and I still haven't heard! I'm getting a little worried.

I thought that the lady who is the coordinator said that we are going to be able to use electronics in the clinical site but ONLY for educational purposes. The students that told us to not even bring it in to not have temptations probably said that because their curriculum was different than ours and since ebooks are required for us they have to let us bring in our tablet or what not. I was sitting in one of the front tables so, the course coordinator said that in front of our table that day (I'm pretty sure). It also says it in the syllabus they gave us. I'm sure that when courses are up on blackboard it will have more info on that.

She said bring devices to lectures and use your clinical instuctors devices if needed during clinicals!

My name is Shawnney and I've been following this thread. I applied to Charity for Spring 2013. After reading all of the posts, I'm nervous for everyone who is starting in a few weeks. I can't believe all the hard work all of you had to do before even school starts.

Which books did any of you read? I keep seeing something about Fundamentals for Success, but I was wondering if there was anything else?

I wish all of you the best in reaching your goals over the next two years and maybe I'll see you in January.

:)

Hello Shawnney, I love that name, my co-workers call me that. I also read and did the questions at the end of some of the chapters in Prenticec Hall (Medical-Surgical Nursing) Reviews and Rationales. GOOD LUCK, see you soon on campus.

For anyone who submitted their name during orientation to switch clinical sections, I emailed our Level 1 coordinator today, and she said that she has not switched anyone yet because she is waiting for all of the LSBN approvals to be complete, and then she will hand in the list of people who want to switch to the registrar. Just wanted to give an update.

Phi823, I remember you saying that u were having problems w/ ur fin aid. Chech ur email. There is a scholarship that can help you with your books if you will not be receiving aid. Up to 600.00. Its first come, first serve. Deadline to apply is Monday!

Thank u, but I still don't have any word on my appeal for max hrs through Lola. I stood in line for 3 1/2 hrs yesterday just for them to tell me that they're working on the appeals. I turned mine in a week before the deadline; therefore, it should have been approved by now. I don't know what the problem is. Tomorrow is the deadline to pay for your classes. So, I can't apply for the book scholarship unless my classes have been held by payment or financial aid. So, they're going to have to just drop me from my classes. Some people have already deferred for another semester b/c they haven't heard from financial aid and they can't pay for it themselves. If they could, they wouldn't have applied for aid. I did tell my mom about it though since hers was approved.

Does anyone know how to self register for BlackBoard? I have the password but I dont know if I log into my Blackboard first.
