Well, I got some bummer news today. The pax test was cancelled for those who signed up for May and June. I was scheduled to take mine May 12th! The DCC bulletin says they will announce the new dates at another time. I wonder why this has happened and I surely don't hope this puts me back any further in my acceptance to nursing school. I think we have until August to submit our applications with the pax test results. I'm hoping to get in for the Fall 08 semester.

Just kind of disappointed but it has reieved the pressure somewhat.

:o

Do all nursing programs require it? Because I hadn't ever heard about it before and I got accepted to a nursing school

I'm not sure of other schools requiring it which is a pre-entrance exam consisting of vocabulary/reading comprehension, math and science. What nursing school are you attending?

I'm attending the University of Louisiana-Lafayette's nursing school. They pretty much just let me in the program, but I didn't know if the PAX was a general requirement for nursing schools or if it varied from program to program.

i think the pax is required for associate degree programs, but don't quote me on this.

You may be right! I haven't heard of SELU requiring a pre-entrance exam. In fact, I would go to SELU if it wasn't for the nursing clinicals being at OLOL in Baton Rouge. I can't travel that distance from Slidell everyday and I'm not able to move either. I'll just have to wait it out for DCC but the thing that disturbs me is it will take me the same amount of time to get my ADN as it would to get my BSN...2 years prereqs, 1 year waiting list, and 2 years of nursing school. I may check into UNO's nursing come to think of it and see where their nursing clinicals are done or even Dillard University.

Good luck to all!
