I honestly, desperately want to be in this field. I have just graduated, but during high school I took an EMT certification class to see if I had what it took to really be a good nurse. After that, I think that I might go home crying once a week or so, but I honestly can't imagine doing anything else. So many people could use our help, whether they're Americans, Africans, or Middle Easterners. It doesn't matter where we go or who we help, as long as we try to do everything in our power as nurses and health care providers to save the lives of those around us. It is because of this that I so love the field. Nurses are constantly underestimated, but provide an invaluable service. I can't say that the money isn't entirely out of the picture - it's nice to be able to provide well for our families - but at least it's secondary to helping others. Isn't that the heart of nursing?

Is the pay for similar areas-such as Lafayette or BR or other bigger cities-the same, or is it sort of unique to NO?

I'm attending the University of Louisiana-Lafayette's nursing school. They pretty much just let me in the program, but I didn't know if the PAX was a general requirement for nursing schools or if it varied from program to program.

Do all nursing programs require it? Because I hadn't ever heard about it before and I got accepted to a nursing school

Um, I got accepted to University of Louisiana-Lafayette's nursing program, but I never heard that I had to take this. Should I be worried? I looked at all the requirements, and the letter they sent me never said anything about it...

That is not bad... I know engineers who have worked for twenty years to make that much

My total fees for my entire four-year education to get my RN is 28,000. I think I got a pretty good deal.

Depends on where you are, of course. If you're willing to go out of state, I know that University of Louisiana lets you start nursing classes in your first semester (also happens to be cheap no matter who you are) and is a very good school.

I have heard a lot about the insane amount of stress and work that the ER nurses have to cope with, but they are such amazing role models to me! I want so much to be one (though I am not sure I have that much patience...)
