Charge nurse unnecessary comments

I'm new to this website but has been a lurker for awhile.

My questions is:

How do I deal with a charge nurse who gives unneccessary comments if I make mistakes or if I ask her "too many" questions because I am a new nurse in the hospital?

Comments like:

If I made mistakes she would say "what do I do with you?" and when I ask her more than 5 questionsin one shift she would say " that's it. You have reached your limit with questions for the day."

I am offended by these comments and I have found that this has been hindering my ability to learn more.

That's good. I think that's what your charge nurse is trying to achieve.

You will also get advice from other colleagues... always a good thing. It takes a village .... to care for a patient.

Can you tell by her body language and/or tone of voice if she's joking or serious? She may be trying to keep it light by joking, or there may be a smidge of truth behind her statements. I worked in an office once, brand new out of school (had gotten my license the week prior to being hired) and the nursing supervisor was promoted to clinical director about two weeks into my hire. I would ask my coworkers (RNs and MAs) when I had questions, and the lead nurse told me that she hates questions and can't stand when people talk at work. She'd even sit at another desk to avoid being close to a part-time MA who was a chatterbox. Well, that nurse turned me in for asking questions and I was fired and the reason was "unable to perform duties as expected." I was there 6 weeks, 4 of them with no direct supervisor to ask questions of.

I realized I was just thinking too much about it. She's okay now and she uses the same phrases to other younger nurses below her.
