Does anyone have any good tips on being a charge nurse ? Work in a large ER where there can be 3-4 charge nurses in each pod. Any good advice?

Be available to help with critical things. Always carry your phone. Know where all critical supplies are bc you are THE go to person. Pay attention to your nurses' level of fatigue. I love our charge nurses who concern themselves with us getting at least one meal break. They try to provide float nurses if possible so we aren't worked to death. Some don't care at all. I love charges who are aware that we are getting slammed with EMSs and come in to help us triage new pts. I wish you the best.
