Charge nurse duties?

Hi,

I am a bit burnt out in my current job and I am considering changing jobs. There is a charge nurse PACU position open(another hospital) which requires BLS,ACLS,PALS and 1 year PACU. I have 3 plus years as a staff RN in PACU and all the above certs including the PACU cert CPAN. What does a charge nurse in this position do? We do not have a charge nurse(haven't for 3 years). We have "self run". Am I qualified to apply? They seem to have staff positions open as well. They "prefer" previous charge I am sure but do not require it.

Thanks!

No one knows?

I would imagine that it would probably vary from place to place. Is there no one at that hospital that you can ask? Maybe human resources or the nursing department could give you a description of the charge nurse duties.

Good luck.

Thanks. I actually am just trying to prepare myself for what I might expect prior to going out for an interview. For example, I certainly am NOT qualified for a DON position, but perhaps I am for charge nurse. I am not looking in my current facility. I guess I may just go for it and find out that way.
