Hey all,
I recently accepted a position in Maine on TN visa. Just wondering if anyone has had experience changing jobs while on a TN visa and how easy or difficult was it?
I am really excited about my position but would still like to have the ability to move around to difference units/hospitals as freely as I could in Canada.

As far as I'm aware, I don't think it is too much of an issue. However, you have to do the whole process again and can't just switch to a different hospital. That means, getting the job offer letter and going back to the border and presenting yourself again with the new job offer. I believe you can also apply by mail. Not ideal but could be a lot worse! A quick google search tells you all this.

Hey. I was actually reading about this. What if I get bored at my current unit and wanted to change unit, right? Or even having Parttime job on the side for extra income. May be I should do that once I started from company A. I am still figuring out how their 3 days/week schedule work.
I have been vocal when I was hired of my plan to pursue ICU thereafter.
So I have read that TN visa status is employer specific & you can be employed to company B but needed to get another TN status for company B.
But a change in a unit with company A does not require another TN status application as per THE LAW OFFICE OF BRIAN D. ZUCCARO, PLLC. But I will need to inquire about this to the hospital lawyer when that time comes.
TN CHANGE OF EMPLOYER
Can I change jobs with my TN Visa? I found a new job.
There is a also a lot to consider when wanting to renew TN status before 3years. I needed to make sure my Visa Certificate is still valid. Good thing CGFNS eSave & Visa Screen certificate is good for 5 years. Although, VS renewal needed license verification again!
The officer who processed my TN also told me that if multiple hospitals are apart of one organization then you can move between the hospitals without having to apply for another TN. Essentially, because you were hired by one hospital technically you work for that group of hospitals and are able to move between them.
He also explained that changing units is not an issue as long as you are working as an RN (or whatever you were hired as), but you could not accept a position in teaching or management.
Its always worth calling before or talking with the hospital lawyer to get a clear answer for the hospital you are with.
