  1. I was going to PM you but I think I am to new on here to access that feature. Essentially, they are looking for info on my paediatrics, mental health and adult surgical placement hours and theory courses. I guess information about how I was trained in those specialties. Maybe the way placements worked at my school was different than other schools because I didn’t have clinical hours in paediatrics, mental health and adult surgical but I did have theory in those areas. My school placements were; First year placement: long term care Second year: Semester 1: Maternal child or Mental health (you get one or the other, I got maternal child) Semester 2: Community Placement Third Year: Semester 1: Acute care placement: medical or surgical floor etc. (I got a medical floor) Semester 2: Chronic care placement: stroke unit, rehab unit etc. (I got a stroke unit) Fourth year: Semester 1: pre-consolidation (your choice) Semester 2: consolidation (your choice) So basically I didn’t have clinical hours in those specialties because of the way my school sets up placements. But from my understanding most school don’t offer placements in all specialties so my school isn’t all the different. Based on the email from the BON (which doesn’t give much detail) they are requesting a letter from the school that provides information on the clinical hours and/or theory that I had. The CGFNS already outlined that I do not have clinical hours in those areas so I don’t know what will happen when they get the letter from the school regarding that stuff. Maybe they are looking for clarification that I have theory in those areas instead. It is frustrating that this is a requirement when the school I went to is an Accredited Nursing School in North America and the CGFNS has verified that education and canadian license.
  2. I am happy you got everything sorted!! My situation on the other hand is not moving along so well. I am so frustrated. I finally got my SSN yesterday in the mail. Sent it to the BON and this morning I had an email from them stating that they now need a letter from my school. I guess the documents from the CGFNS where not clear enough. I am supposed to start on Monday. The Maine BON is closed on Thursday and Friday this week because of the holiday weekend. So I have until tomorrow for the school to send a letter and for my licence to be processed. Jokes on me, I thought it would be smooth sailing after I got my SSN.
  3. I’m hoping I get it early next week! Hahaha, at this rate next year might be accurate
  4. Apparently it has been mailed. I applied for it on November.1st but I haven’t received it yet. When I went to the SSA office last week they said it would get here by today at the latest. But without the card I can’t get my license. I’m going back today to get a replacement mailed because it wasn’t in the mail this morning. I was supposed to start work yesterday but I am delayed until December 2nd now. If my license isn’t released by November 29th I will have to repeat my fingerprinting. So hopefully the next two weeks go in my favour.
  5. Ugh these two week time frames are killing me! It’s so slow it’s unbelievable. I hope things are sorted when you come back.
  6. The officer who processed my TN also told me that if multiple hospitals are apart of one organization then you can move between the hospitals without having to apply for another TN. Essentially, because you were hired by one hospital technically you work for that group of hospitals and are able to move between them. He also explained that changing units is not an issue as long as you are working as an RN (or whatever you were hired as), but you could not accept a position in teaching or management. Its always worth calling before or talking with the hospital lawyer to get a clear answer for the hospital you are with.
  7. Fingers crossed! When is your new start date? Have you talked to the Maine BON about how to submit the SSN once you get it?
  8. So I got a hold of a different rep that basically said I needed to give the authorization in writing to send it to the Maine BON. I just sent them an email saying that I approve them to send it and they did. I still don’t understand why they needed me to do this because I paid for it so obviously I wanted it to be sent! I got to Maine last night! Going to apply for my SSN today! I will likely have to re schedule my start date as well! I hope you get your SSN soon! I can’t believe you are still waiting!
  9. Exactly what I thought! I am confused as well! The rep I spoke with at CGFNS said that Maine won’t accept the eDAS unless I’m endorsed from another state which doesn’t make sense! But the Maine BON says they do accept it so now I’m so confused. Im going to have to call the cgfns back and hopefully get a different rep that will be able to help. I chose license by endorsement as well!
  10. Hey! I’m having issues with the Maine BON and CGFNS. I’m getting documents from the school sent to them now instead of CGFNS. I had paid for the eDAS, and now the CGFNS is saying that that Maine BON won’t accept the eDAS unless I am endorsed from another state. Yet the Maine BON says they do accept eDAS. I don’t really understand the why the CGFNS won’t send the eDAS or what being endorsed by another state means?
  11. Hello everyone, I am a new grad RN from Canada. I started my career in the ED and have been working in this speciality for just over a year. I accepted a position at a hospital in the ED in Maine. Prior to moving I was going to take a critical care course at a college in Canada and hopefully transition to ICU or to a level 1 trauma centre. I am very interested in continuing my education in critical care, I am wondering about what opportunities there are in the states to get certified in critical care or take courses that are accredited. I was doing some research and came across the AACN, but I don't quite understand what they do. Do they offer courses/programs? or do you just write an exam to become certified in critical care after have a certain amount of experience?
  12. I'll be in Maine this week visiting so i'm going to get it done in Portland. I can't wait for this to be all behind me.
  13. Thank you for letting me know all of this! The CGFNS finally processed the transcript from my school, this was the last thing I needed for the review process. I paid for the eDAS today as well. I have most things done for the Maine BON, I need to do my fingerprinting and I need the CGFNS to some documents but that is all I have left I believe. (and SSN of course). It is such a frustrating process. I feel like I take 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
  14. Hey all, I recently accepted a position in Maine on TN visa. Just wondering if anyone has had experience changing jobs while on a TN visa and how easy or difficult was it? I am really excited about my position but would still like to have the ability to move around to difference units/hospitals as freely as I could in Canada.
