Change of Major to Nursing as Junior (Desperate for help)

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hello!

Currently I am finishing up my junior year in college and my major is Therapeutic Recreation (I was going to become an OT) but I have recently had a change of heart. I have decided I want to pursue nursing and become a neonatal nurse practitioner (NNP) but I don't know where to go from here. I know that I will not be accepted into my current university's nursing program because it is highly competitive and I am almost a senior. I have compared the courses I have already taken and they lineup quite well with the nursing curriculum. I have thought about enrolling into an accelerated BSN program either online or at a nearby community college but I'm not sure if this is the right move. I love the university I attend now and never thought I wouldn't be graduating from here but the nursing program here is not an option. Since I am almost done with my junior year I can also not start over at another four year university.

Does anyone have advice or know what my next step should be to achieve my goal of becoming an NNP? Pleaseeeee help :)

For accelerated you have to already have a bachelors. I'd go to your advisor and ask, they are best able to guide you thru your universities requirements and what may be your best route. They will also be able to tell you what transfers and what doesn't, all classes and

credits aren't equal at other colleges.
