Chamberlain University

Published

Hi everyone! I recently applied to Chamberlain University (Irving campus) and took my second attempt for the HESI exam last Saturday. I needed at least a 73% and I got an overall score of 70%. My GPA is a 2.87. What are my chances of getting in. I'm so nervous and have been stressing about it way too much.

Do you know when the nurse corp scholarship opens? I'm attending chamberlain right now but it's so expensive Im going to have to pay around 5k every 8 weeks

I'm sure you'll be good though! You're HESI score is great. Like I said I received a 72 on my HESI and had like a 2.9 and still got in!

How is the program so far? Anything I should know about the lectures and clinical rotations?

So far it's great, it's my first semester and I'm taking my prerequisites there so I don't start clinicals until the end of next year, but the professors I've had so far have been great and the school offers a lot of resources I've found helpful as well. Besides the cost, I love it LOL!

Okay, I have done all of my prerequisites already at McDaniel College so I guess I would need to talk to the transfer credit team and get my credits transferred over upon acceptance.

Yes your admissions representative will help you with that! I was only able to transfer 15 credits. The more credits you transfer the lower your tuition ?

No, you would get your transcript evaluation done after you apply for admission. They do an initial one with the admissions counselor then they send it off to be evaluated for your acceptance.  I have all of my gen ED courses done so I only have to do nursing courses. They took everything.

They took 58 credits from me thankfully, this reduced the cost to $50k for me. She said I would have NR-102 transition to the nursing profession (2 credit course) on 10/30 then 5 semesters of nursing courses starting January. I believe I qualify for about $9k in scholarships from them but phew that is still a lot. I guess I will be making my decision in the next 2 weeks. RandyH if you haven't already reach out and see what all you still need. After the transfer evaluation, they give you a sheet to show you what courses they are taking and which ones you still need to complete the program. I chose to hold off the start date to take humanities 101, a political science, and critical thinking course at AACC to bring down the cost.

The only things I need right now according to Chamberlain's admission rep. is my purpose essay and my transcripts, one of which I won't have till December 17th,  because I am starting the class next week.

I sent in an unofficial with the courses I had in progress (enrolled in but hadn't started) ie., the ones I am taking now. She said that was all that I needed to show that the courses were in progress and would be taken. Of course, submit the grades in December when the classes are over. Good luck with everything. I am looking at Fastweb now...LOL

I am kind of nervous about this particular transcript though because I took a GEN CHEM. course during the Summer of 2021 at this particular CC that I am taking a course at next week and I failed the chemistry course so that grade is going to be seen. Should I bring it up on my purpose statement? :(

I wouldn't.  It's so short you can barely say anything. Prerequisites aren't required so I wouldn't worry about the failed course. I mean of course it brings down your GPA but you should be fine.

I had a couple Cs and Fs on my transcript and I wrote an essay, aside from my purpose statement, on why I had those grades and how I will do better in my program.

I didn't mention anything about my Fs and my personal statement was no more than 150 words. They don't give you a lot of space.
