Nursing Students Chamberlain College

Published

Hello everyone,

I am new to allnurses.com and so far I love it!! I have been reading the forums but I cannot find anything in particular about Chamberlain's Tinley Park location and I am assuming this is because it's still kind of new. I just wanted to how the instructors are and if this particular campus is worth attending?

Thanks I advance(^_^)

Did they offer you financial assistance for spring and summer? I'm afraid I'll have to pay out of pocket for these semesters. I'm anxious to talk to the financial advisor.

I have some financial assistant but since I already have a bachelor's it's mainly gov. loans that will accrue interest while I am in school. The rest will probably be out of pocket with help from my parents probably since they do not want me taking out private loans. I'm hoping to apply for some scholarships and work as well though. This school is pretty expensive =/

It is expensive its kind of frightening and makes me nervous. I am excited though. I hope i can finish within two years.

I hope so as well. Are you coming straight out of highschool or from another program?

I did my prereqs at a community college. I get my AAS This may.

I go to the Chamberlain in Tinley Park and I think that it was the worse decision I ever made. Most of the teachers that I had SUCK and only a couple are good. You know that fancy sim lab that they show you? Guess what, you are only in there once a session. We had a teacher called "Professor Shirley Watkins" who taught many classes. She changed grades by failing the students she didn't like and passing the ones that she did like Students went to the president of the school in groups telling on this teacher. The president would hide and not answer phone calls nor emails. Students started researching her and found out that she got her certifications weren't real. So, what the school did was made an appointment with the students that failed through an email saying that they would like to talk about what went on. When they got to the appointment they said that they were paying for next session, but they would have to keep the F. The person didn't have much of a say so. When the money was issued on the account it was issued as a scholarship to cover there buts. Oh and Good-luck! Because, you will need it.

Is this professor still there? Is this experience yours or others? Minus the professors not being good what else is your experience with the school?

So what did you end up doing? Are you at a different nursing program?

Oh ok cool. I have a bachelor's already which doesn't matter much now that I'm going into nursing just a more loans that I have to pay off later. But yeah, I joined the fbook group for tinley park and i have yet to meet anyone that is going to be starting in May so I just wanted to reach out to other people in the same situation as me.

No, this teacher is no longer there. This is the experience of mine and others. I don't feel like I am getting enough for the money that I am dishing out. We have a computer lab all the computers barely work. We have been losing clinical sites left and right. In clinical, the clinical instructors have to teach us what we should have learned in school, because a lot of clinical knowledge is limited. When we are in lab we don't always have the equipment that we need or it is used, so the steps we need to know is already done because the equipment is used. I just want to get what I pay for and I am not getting that. I have been there for a year and I only have a couple of months to go. When I first came I had a 3.9 g.p.a. now I have a 3.3 g.p.a.

I am still there. I am almost finish, because I didn't want to go through the whole process of looking for another school, getting accepted, and taking more classes over. The teacher nor the old president are their so, I thought it would see a difference. The only difference I see is prices going up. Now we have to pay $80 a class for online books for each class no matter if we want it or not. Pay for printing , credit hours 7 and up are now $400 each when it use to be $100 when I started.

Yeah, I saw the email about the credit hours going up which scares me because i feel they will probably go up every year and the school is already expensive =/ I think that students should be locked into a certain price and wow I wish it was still only $100
