Hey guys,
So I have to take a 2 credit hour elective. Im choosing between Nursing history: NR 390 or Transcultural Nursing: NR-391. Which one is easier? What is each class like? Thanks!
Hey, what does the course project consist of? Is it a paper?
In some courses, the course project is a paper that's done in 3 stages or "milestones". For example, the first course you take in the RN-to-BSN program, the course project is a paper. Milestone one is your scholarly resources you'll be using for the paper and the topic you've chosen. You present your 4 resources in APA format. The 2nd milestone is an outline of the paper with certain details completed. It is filled out directly on the Milestone form. Milestone 3 is the actual APA paper.
In other courses, the Course Project is 3 separate assignments. Some require writing papers, some simply require completing the assignment grid. Just depends on the course. So far, my longest paper has been Sociology, with 8 pages required and at least 5 references. My nursing courses have had very simple, straight-forward projects. The longest paper I've had in my nursing courses was 5-6 pages, which is pretty easy. In fact, that assignment couldn't be longer than 6 pages and it was hard to edit the details to keep it under 6 pages!
Most of the nursing courses have the Milestones due on Week 2, 4 & 6, which is nice because the courses are 8 weeks, so the last 2 weeks, you only have to do discussion posts :)
Specifically for Transcultural Nursing NR 391 course, what is the course project? Was it a paper broken into 3 milestones or something else?
It was one assignment broken in to 3 parts. It was an interview with a healthcare worker from another culture. 1st part is to give a brief background on your selected interviewee. If approved, then part 2 is to set up your open-ended questions, using the textbook as a guide. Part 3 is to conduct the interview. You can video record it, audio record it or provide a written transcript. Pretty easy project!
You only pay for the credits you take that semester. You can do a payment plan for the semester to make it more affordable. However, I'd still recommend doing the ADN at a community college. You need the background in Microbiology & Chem to really understand Pharmacology, especially if you want to go on to further study. Most BSN programs will require Microbiology at some point. Yes, Chem is usually a pre-req for it, but there's a good reason why you need it. I know you want to be done quickly, but quicker isn't necessarily better. You'd save money in the long run by doing the ADN and then the RN-to-BSN.
What were some options for payment plans?
What were some options for payment plans?
You can do a payment plan to weekly or monthly during the semester. Or you can do a deferred payment plan, depending on how much you owe. They break up the payments into smaller, more manageable chunks, but you'll be paying it off (with interest) for a long time.
As I said before, much cheaper to go to a community college first to get your RN and then do an RN-to-BSN bridge.
