I noticed some job openings for online adjunct instructors at these nursing schools... Anyone have any experience as a student or teacher with them? Anyone do any online teaching someplace else? How do you like it?

Thanks!

I worked as an adjunct for WGU. I did not like the isolation and so transitioned into a Clinical Instructor position in the pre-licensure program.

I have a full time job, so I don't think the isolation factor would be an issue, but I can understand how it would be if you only worked from home. How many hours per week did you need to devote to each class as an online instructor? Just wondering if it would be doable with a full time, Mon-Fri day shift job already.

Thanks!

The WGU model is not your typical instructors model. I graded student papers for a variety of courses. 15 hours per week- total flexibility. ! was paid $20/hour.

You can go to Accredited Online University | Online Degree Programs | WGU and at the very bottom is a link 'careers' or 'jobs' (I forget which it's called). The position is called 'evaluator'.

I'd say neither unless you just looking to put your degree to work. In most of these programs your not actually doing any teaching. The programs are prepackaged and your grading papers and making sure the students are on track. It's not actually teaching. I know a number of people who took those jobs right after graduating with MSN and the first thing they did was start looking for brick and mortar programs.

But that being said, that's my opinion. It really depends on what your looking for. It can be "decent" supplemental income.
