I was told that if you can prove you have x number of hours of lab/clinical experience you can challenge the NY test. Is that true?
Yeah, it's obnoxious...but great if you're looking for something quick and are free when they offer it. There's not much sense in volunteering at my hospital because it takes about a month from start to finish with the application and orientation to even start volunteering and I don't have that kind of time, my full time summer job starts in a week and a half. And nursing homes don't expose you to nearly as much. Plus when you volunteer you aren't actually doing anything medical/nursing related at all so while it's a good thing to do, I don't think it would help me.

Maybe you can volunteer somewhere part time temporarily to see if the job is for you?
