im thinking about challenging the cna exam i was wondering if i can get any pointers from people who may have already taken the exam and practical. if you have any tips or pointers would be greatly appreacited.
i just passed the cna this morning
the skills i received where:
1) hand washing
2) weighing an ambulatory client (make sure they have shoes on!)
3) range of motion on one arm
4) foot care on one foot
5) positioning a client on side who needs help to turn
there were a few questions on the test that i felt where not on the practice test on the pearson/vue website. some pertained to skills themselves and others to hospital/nursing home procedures: when to empty a colostomy bag, how often to turn a client and where you need to hang a urine bag. also, don't forget you need to know things such as your scope of practice that you are a cna and report to a rn/lpn/charge nurse and cannot give meds or take out/put in catheters.
If anyone in NC needs a quick course to learn skills to prepare to challenge the exam, send me an email, I can help you.
Hi! I know you posted this message about a year ago, but I am needing to register as a CNA before applying as well. Do you have any pointers or suggestions on challenging the exam? Thanks alot!
I want to challenge the boards for my LVN in California. It says you need 6 weeks of peds and labor and delivery. I live in San Diego how do I get this experience? It says it has to be paid work. I currently work PCU. That is where my heart is. I do not want to which my job but how do I get the experience if I don't. Please help me
HELLO!!
Today, I passed my skills/written test!..WooHoo!...I challenge the exam. I started reading over Cram EXam for CNA book..I began studying Aug.18th (3 1/2wks)..I have a science background, which that helped on some of the questions. I think you should get that book or any book that covers every section that you will be tested on..go to prometric website where it will tell you what topics and make sure to printout the checklist for the skills. Make sure to PRACTICE the skills on someone, on my case I practice on my huge bear, and I ask my mom (nurse) to read over the checklist in case I forget something. Or ask someone to be the evaluator for the day. I found the exam tricky at times, but remember that you must use common sense on most of them--ask yourself, what I would do is..?...there are some questions where you must know like what are signs of infection, low blood sugar, etc...the first wk and 1/2 I read the book and took tests, and more tests and the rest of the time I performed 5 skills at a time...I think by you following this, you will be ok..trust yourself..remain yourself calm at all times. YOU CAN DO IT!!!...GOOD LUCK!!!...STUDY, AND PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND YOU WILL SUCCEED!

I passed Feb 8, what I learn: Relax, do some meditation the day before or the same day
Use common sense,( if you feed somebody on bed don't lower the bed head
If you do foot care don't put the pt foot on the floor without a barrier. Think you are professional working in a hospital for first time. I will say everything is RELAX and think the steps before start the skill
