challenge cna exam.?

Published

im thinking about challenging the cna exam i was wondering if i can get any pointers from people who may have already taken the exam and practical. if you have any tips or pointers would be greatly appreacited.

Hi ColtsMom & Adorblepuppy......in late '07 me & my wife visited High Point for the first time and we both loved the area right away! seems like a strong magnetism in your area. a matter of fact, b4 returning to Jersey we bought a beautiful house. we still live in NJ and I'm on my 2nd LPN coursework. Pardon my inquiry to both of you if I may - do you know the running rate of LPN in the area? (Winston-Salem, Greensboro, H. Point) and how's the flow of employment? thanks for your time and I look forward to be a future H. Point resident! :wink2:

I live a little further north and know more about the Winston Salem area (about 15 -20 minutes from High Point). Most of the postings I have seen start out LPNs (no experience) around 14 - 15.00/hour. I'm not sure about High Point specifically, but I would assume it would be similar. Hope that helps!

Does anyone know where to challenge the cna exam at in High point or even Winston Salem? Please point me in the right direction if u can! Thanx

There is a testing center in High Point. You have to send your application in through Pearson Vue. To print the application go here:

To see the testing facilities website, go here:

To my knowledge there is not a testing facility in Winston Salem. I'm from just north of WS and had to drive to High Point to test. I'd be glad to help if you have any questions about the testing site in HP though.

Hi,

I'm a former cna and challenged the test. I passed the written, failed the skills. There is a lot to remember and they are extremely nit picky!! If you have been out of the nursing loop for a while like me (15 years), it pays to get a CNA test prep book. I bought the one by Wanda Smith. I found it to be very helpful for the written part of the exam. There were clinical skills in it too but it was not specific enough to help me pass the test. Each state is slightly different with what they want and you really need hands on training in the state you are planning to test in.

You only have 3 times to challenge the test and if you fail, it's 3 strikes and you are out. You would then have to take a very expensive lengthy course. I wanted to make sure I had a good chance of passing the second time around and decided to take a cna fast track course for one day in Tampa Bay. It was 400.00 and very good; I felt I got my moneys worth. (They also offer the same thing in a four day course for those that live in that area) My next test date is the first week of Feb. so hopefully I will pass it this time.

The instructor claims to have a 99% pass rate and is available 24/7 online. It is called Tampa Bay CNA Fast Track and I highly recommend it.

Hope this was helpful!

What does it mean to "challenge" an exam?

to challenge the exam means you have not taken any classes, you just sign up to take the test."you challenge" it.

I just spoke with a lady that does the testing at the High Point location. She said that after the first week in March she was not going to renew her contract with the the state and would no longer be a testing location.

Just thought this might help anyone that is interested in challenging the test soon.

I signed up for a fast track CNA test prep class on Saturday the 13th in Raliegh NC. Then will be taking the test in New Bern @ Extended Hands on the 26(h. Any more pointers? I have the state manual. Should I get a book if so whcih one?

I am not sure what books to tell you i just wanted to say good luck with the test. Just remember the steps and you should do good. And if you think you forgot a step as long as you as still do that skill you can say i missed a step and go back.

I'm in Winston Salem. I took my test in High Point. Do you know what they said you did wrong? I've heard there are some really tough testers and some really easy ones. The lady who did my testing was really laid back. Just remember to wash your hands. I konw one guy who failed because after he did his last skill (measuring weight) he did not say he would wash his hands. He did everything else perfect.

1) Wash hands

2) Ask permission

3) Provide privacy

4) Clean-to-dirty

If you remember those four things, the rest pretty well falls into place.

I don't know if anybody's already linked here but if not, here are some videos which I looked at during my CNA course:

By the way, if you decide that you want these videos, I highly, HIGHLY suggest that you install the add-on "DownThemAll" to Firefox and grab 'em that way... much more convenient to bulk download than 1 by 1.
