  1. My dear fellow CNA. You rinse the bedpan out. If you are in a hospital setting the hopper is attached to the toilet. Use it. I am a fan of the hip fracture bedpans. after they are rinsed they slid great into the back of the handlerail. I have a trick I use to put a papertowel in the bottom of the pan it will clean out better. Also when putting a pt. on a bedpan sprinkle baby powder around the rim so it slides easier. ( don't do this if pt has resp problems; never use baby powder on them at all ) Hope this helps.
  2. OK FIRST OFF TO ERROR IS HUMAN!!! Everyone makes mistakes all we can do is learn from them. As for making a mistake when it counts don't think about that. It all comes flying back at you. Like I told my nurse (new grad) take a deep breath and make sure you show the confidence in what you do. You are doing this for a reason. Remember that reason. And Smile!!!
  3. I live in San Diego. RNA is just a Cna that does the ROM and PT with the residents. Most Nursing homes will train you to do this there. There is really no certificate for that. Atleast there wasn't when I did it back in 2000. Ask around at the nursing homes if that is something your friend wants to do. Any CNA that wants to forward their career in the cardiac units at the hospitals should add the telementry to their certs they have. The class took me 6 weeks and now my pay has went up 5 dollars. We do EKGs on the floor but now I can read them and sit at the teles. By adding this you are also able to do stress tests. It make being a CNA exciting because you have so many hats you can wear.
  4. If you are looking to forward your job toward nursing then colleges looks at the CNA as experience in the healthcare setting. It kinda bouncey you further in the classes.
  5. I want to challenge the boards for my LVN in California. It says you need 6 weeks of peds and labor and delivery. I live in San Diego how do I get this experience? It says it has to be paid work. I currently work PCU. That is where my heart is. I do not want to which my job but how do I get the experience if I don't. Please help me
