Chabot College 2015-2016 application

Published

Hi, everyone!

Has anyone heard anything from Chabot regarding acceptance letters/emails? I decided to start this thread so we can keep each other informed.

Thanks :)

Thank you!!! We have a lot in common this is good. Haha I heard the same. I applied to private as well and honestly worst experience I have ever had. Literally no communication and I was never formally rejected for 2 semesters. They just didn't tell me anything about my status or were very vague. So frustrating considering it was 41k a year and a 3 year program. I'm happy this one worked out! I was worried too. I had a back up plan to just transfer to east bay and do the Accelerated BSN after getting a BS. But that would cost me more money too so this is ideal!

Oh and no im not working. Do you work a lot? I think they just say to work part time because it can be a lot.

Wow 94 on the second one! That is so awesome!! 3.9 is so good too! We do have a lot in common! I hadn't applied to any private schools because I was thinking I could never afford it and was wanting to get into a community college program to save money and get financial aid and then to the bridge to East Bay for my BSN. If I didn't get in this year, I was also just going to go to East Bay for my bachelor's and then keep applying. One of my good friends I met while doing my prereqs had a 4.0 with 84% on her TEAS and got on the waiting list for East Bay. Such tough competition it is crazy! I did really good going back to school, and was fortunate to meet a lot of really great people who wanted to help each other and support each other through the process and I am so hoping to find that in nursing school!

I only work 2-3 days a week. But I might only work 2-3 days a month while in the nursing program. I was just curious if people were able to continue to do a little and still do well. I know both programs advise not to work at all!

That is so awesome!! Yes I feel the same way. I met so many great people but unfortunately none will be in this program with me. I too agree that it was a blessing not going to the private school because this way there's no debt. If you end up here let me know! I definitely could use support/study help. I also know someone who graduated from the program 2 years ago and she gave me a ton of advice just a little while ago. We will make it through and be great nurses no matter what!!!

I know no one I met is in this program! I was fortunate to meet a lot of really great people to study with! I hope to do the same in nursing! I had to already do my background check and drug test for Ohlone so I didn't loose my spot. I was originally in for spring semester but I was #24 and they called me the same day I got my email asking me to do the Fall semester. I have heard great things from both programs. And I was leaning more towards Ohlone even if I got into Chabot. But now that I finally received my acceptance in Chabot it is so hard for me to choose! I am for sure going to the orientation and the CPR. This is so hard! I never thought I would be in a position to choose, especially from what I was hearing over the semesters, how I would have a hard time getting in with repeating a prereq science! I am so happy for you that you got in! And I would love to exchange numbers to help and support each other during the semester. I think I have to really research and make the right decision! It's so hard! I hope everyone gets their letters tomorrow! I had been checking my mailbox frantically for the last week! Good luck to all!

Wow that is awesome! That is a hard choice. In the end you'll end up with whatever is right! I'm surprised so many people declined. They said at orientation only 1 person did last year lol maybe that was a scare tactic because I already know 3! Plus now 2. I'll private message you my number and let me know what you end up doing. I'll see you at the cpr. I'm doing the later orientation because my son will be with his dad then.

Steph and Summer,

Congrats on getting in. I'm gonna be attending the CSM program in the fall and won't get a chance to meet you, but just wanted to say kudos to you for getting into the program!

I'm also a mom, have a 2 and a 6 year old and I know it will be challenging going back to school fulltime (plan to work part-time as well), and also having less time to dedicate to friends, family, etc. Just wanted to let you know there are others on the same boat, and that we'll all put in time, money, and sacrifice into this but it is all worth it in the end! Anyways, be proud of yourselves and keep working on your goal!!! Best wishes to you :)

Thank you so much! Congrats to you as well. Yes I'm a little nervous for it too but it's totally possible and I'm sure we are all going to do great!!!

Hey guys, I selected as a alternate 51 I don't really know what it means to be an alternative as well as if there's any chance of me even getting into the program although I'm glad at least I got chosen as alternate. If anybody can help me out it would be great thank you !!!

Hey all,

I received my letter today and selected as alternate 32. I wasn't sure how that worked at first since its my first time applying but according to Catherine (chabot nursing admin), "We will select the first 40 and the next will be listed in rank order as alternates. If one of the top 40 decline we go through the alternate list until the class if complete up and until the first day of class." Hope that answers your question. And congrats to everyone who received their acceptance again and good luck on your journey to becoming a nurse. And to every one else who didn't or selected as alternates, don't give up! I'll be trying again in the fall.

Hey,

I was at the informational meeting at Chabot in the fall and I asked how far down the alternate list they went last year and she said it is different every year but that last year they went up to number 50ish. Lots of people get accepted to more than one program so I think us alternates might still have a good chance of getting in. Stay positive!!
