What accelerated BSN program can I get in with 2.8?
Here's the deal:
I have Bachelor's in Biology with cumulative GPA of 2.80.
In the usual prerequisites (Organic and inorganic chem, intro to psychology, stat, microbiology, english comp 1 & 2, life span development, human anatomy and physiology), I have 3.15.
I've been looking at some schools and they told me that the usually the people they accept into Accelerated BSN program have GPA of 3.5 - 3.7. Seems like its hopeless.
Do you guys know of any accelerated BSN programs in the nation that I could be competitive, to say the least?

hmm... Every area has their own criteria for admission into nursing school. As for my particular school, they look either at pre-req gpa or cum gpa or both, or the NLN score. So if you have taken the nursing entrance test and you scored really good, they'll just look at that and your pre-reqs and cum gpa won't matter so much anymore. But to be more competitive, you should look into retaking a&p and microbio if u got a grade lower than A. Just because your cum gpa don't look good doesn't mean u don't stand a chance. Just get a good score on the nursing entrance test and try to raise the pre-req requirement grades! i hope i helped...
For my pre-req, I have all A's and B's except a C in Organic Chem 2.
What bought my cumulative GPA down were three upper level biology courses (Bacteriology, Pasitiology, and Animal Phys) that I got D's in. I'm taking Animal phys 1 and 2, and life span development right now so hopefully if I get all A's in those, it'll bring my prereq GPA to 3.2 to 3.3.
What is this nursing entrance test that you are talking about? Am I suppose to take it on my own or does the school offer it to me?

You may want to look up some Online Colleges. I'm interested in Accelerated BSN programs and they all have a minimum of 3.0 or higher. I'm not an online college person, but is the ADN programs not on your radar?
the school requires that you take a nursing entrance test. You may want to ask the school ur applying to which test they want u to take. They may ask you to take TEAS or NLN. But that differs in each school. You should look into ADN school also bc after getting the ADN, you can always do the ADN-BSN program which takes about a year or two to complete.
They have online school for Accelerated BSN? The only one I found was in Wisconsin and minimum cumulative GPA requirement was 3.0 plus you had to have a CNA license.
So I have to take the test on my own, it's not a conditional acceptance test that the school offers? Anyways, what's on TEAS/NLN? Is it common knowledge or something that you have to study for extremely hard? Just curious...
Yup, use google, etc. to find them. That's why I asked since you have such a low GPA to just look into some ADN programs in your area. That may be your best bet, unless you want to move to an area where the colleges will only look at your prerequisite GPA only.
I was in a similar situation in college about 5 years ago. I had a 2.8, but for some reason in my junior/senior year I was determined to graduate with at least a 3.0, not knowing 5 years later I would go back to school for nursing. I was lucky I pulled it up enough to graduate with a 3.16 because these Accelerated BSN program requirements are no joke. I saw one requiring a 3.6 GPA.
