CGFNS visa screen certificate needed for california?

Published

Greetings!

Im a big fan of this forum and this is my first post!

A friend of mine just informed me that if we would like to apply for a visa screen for california, we would need a CGFNS visa screen certificate. I previously thought that a passing grade for the NCLEX exam and the IELTS or TOEFL would be enough. Would anyone care to enlighten me on this matter please? Thanks in advance!:nurse:

only one kind of vis screen needed to all US states and territories when you apply for immigrant visa. thers no such thing as visascreen for california alone its just all the same no mater what state. and the one who issu it is the CGFNS.

there is ONLY ONE TYPE OF VISA SCREEN!the one that is issued by CGFNS

hello. VS certificate is a requirement for immigration. You need to get VS regardless of the state you are applying in and intending to work in.... thanks.

Hi, I might be misunderstanding you - do you mean the CGFNS exam? What everyone has said so far about needing the CGFNS visa screen is correct, however you do not need to sit their exam for California (only the NCLEX & english language proficiency ones). Hope that helps :)

CGFNS offers a multitude of programs. Examples of a few:

CGFNS Certificate program is the one that contains the CGFNS exam, as well as the basic English exam, such as TOEFL, IELTS or TOEIC.

CES is the Credentiasl Eval that many states wish to see before they will even look at your application for licensure. It is also needed by many schools here if you wish to continue on with your schooling.

CVS is a specific evaluation only for NY, it cannot be used by any other state and NY will not use the CES either.

VSC, or the Visa Screen Certificate, is not used by states, but by the US government for immigration purposes. It is actually required by all that are going to be applying for a visa on their own thru an employer and is required for any type of visa, including the treaty visas, and everything else. In oder to get the VSC, one must pass the NCLEX or CGFNS exam and the English exams if they are not waived for you.

Hope that this helps clear up any issues.

Thanks so much everybody for helping me be enlightened about this issue. Im so grateful! Im pretty sure you are all wonderful nurses!

You are quite welcome.

Please anyone help me with my concerns. Im in the process of filling for a visascreen. Im cali nclex passer w/o SSN.

1. where can i download the request for license verification form to be sent to Cali-Bon? Is it the the form that can be found in the cali-BON website or the form from the visascreen handbook?

2. What other requirements should i include aside from the form and the bankdraft of $60?

3. After I accomplished the form for verification, Can i request cali-BON to send the license verification directly to cgfns or will I wait for cali-BON to send back the accomplished form & personally send it to cgfns?

4. Or is it Cali-BOn will automatically send the accomplished form to cgfns even if i dont request them to send it to cgfns?

Thank you for the help.

As far as I am aware you can use the form that is in the vsc handbook and they will send verification from them to CGFNS once they check your form out and bank the fee
