CGFNS do not respect internationals

I just wanted every nurse in the world to know that CGFNS are treating internationals really bad on purpose, they do not respect you when you call on the phone and they do not process your applications on time and it takes them months to do a couple of hours job. If we are americans and applied for anything, everything will be going smoothly then. And by the way they lie a lot, because they promised me once that after all the process is done with my application they will accept my TOEFL score even if I have 2 scores less than the requiered in the speaking test and way above for the overall, because I'm already a PhD student in the states and practice speaking everyday. sorry for making it long :)

What is CGFNS?

CGFNS is a credential service that International nurses have to go through (they do offer a few other services also) to make sure their training meets US training as RN.

Sorry you are having a bad experience with them but many have no problems with them. You have to remember that many and I mean many International nurses uses this service and may not have the staff. Also takes a few months as it depends on how they receive the documents from the nursing schools abroad. English exams are waivered usually if course work is done with English textbooks and I am not sure how they can say they will waiver it because you are in the US studying without proof. Don't think it will be any different if American nurses applied as I have seen many complain about the BON's and how slow their applications are going when endorsing. As usual if the demand for a service is high then there usually are some waits involved.

Just my opinion

I hope so! We work until like March or April to pay the taxes that affords us the luxury of avoiding bureaucracy.

If you did your basic training out of the US, then you are required to have passing scores on the English exams. Does not matter that you are in a PhD program now in the US. If the basic training was not in English, then they are required to complete the same requirements as any other foreign nurse. Even a nurse from the Philippines that trained in English is required to pass the series of English exams to work in any other country.

It is not that they are doing anything different for you, the fact is that you must pass the required exams to get a VSC. And they are not the ones that have made this rule, they are under contract to the US government and they are the ones that require it.

If you are in the US and are practicing every day, then there should not be a problem with you passing this exam. And the speaking section is actually the most important and I am sure that no one there told you that they would waive the requirement for you, they cannot do that.

You may wish to try with the IELTS exam to pass the speaking section, but otherwise, you need to follow the requirements for working here, it is up to you to meet our laws, not the other way around.

If you do not pass the speaking section, then you are not going to be able to get petitioned for a visa to remain in the US once you complete your training. Same thing with most other countries as well, if you cannot pass the English exams, then you cannot stay.

For your training, there are only basic requirements of language, but to stay and work here, it needs to be perfect. Same thing if you wished to work in Canada, the UK, as well as Australia.

If you had everything completed appropriately, then you would not be having any problems with them. Sorry, but the fault is on your side, not with them in this case.

Most universities just require the basic TOEFL for admission, not the full exam as is required for the VSC.

The issue is that the full exam needs to be passed, especially the speaking part if they wish to get a visa to be able to work in the US.

Wish it were only those few months, it is actually until May.
