CGFNS in FLorida?

hi suzane! you've been very helpful to all of us here. i just passed the local boards here in the Philippines. And also plans to work there in florida hopefully in the next several years. As i have read in your forums, CGFNS is not needed in florida, only NCLEX. I was wondering why my cousin who works at a hospital in miami, florida is asking me to take the CGFNS exam ? i emailed her bout this but haven't got any reply yet. think she's too busy. i have submitted some requirements to CG and i plan to take them by nov. if i can make it through the aug. 10 deadline. if not, i might take it by march next year. also i plan to take the NCLEX by march next year , after several weeks after my CG.will that be advisable?

is the CGFNS exam applicable to other states? if in the future i plan to transfer to other states. by the way, what's the minimum years of experience needed before i get to work there?

sorry if i have too many questions. i have no one to ask here. this is the only and the fastest way i can get help. thank you so much!

Florida no longer requires the CGFNS exam, it did in the past, along with most other states. They now only require a credentials evaluation that is done by CGFNS called CES.

If you pass NCLEX and your English exams, and get the Visa Screen Certificate, then you are all set for working in the US, and immigration for your green card.

Once you have a nursing license in the US, most do not require you to have the CGFNS exam to endorse. The only two that come to my brain right now are Michigan and Illinois. Illinois requires two years work experience in the US, and the requirement is then waived. Michigan requires five years of work experience in the US.

There is no requirement that you must have work experience in your home country before working in the US. There is not even a mandatory requirement that you have a license in your home country for most states, if not all now.
