Cgfns/ces english proficiency test. Not taking it. Pls help. Advices... Thanks

HI I would like to ask about some advice regarding my application at cgfns for ces . I think that it is unfair for me to get an English proficiency exam because I have work in the u.s.a for almost 5 months, and the work that I did was obviously talking English to the patients and plus I did graduate in a college school which our primary language was English. so my question is that can I just make a letter saying that I don't need to take this test and gather documents to prove it like my working experience and school certificates that their main language taught is English? thanks

Claiming "unfair " is not likely to be effective. I am guessing this is a board of nursing requirement? The most likely response will be if you don't want to fulfill the licensing requirements then the state will not issue you a nursing license.

Five months work is usually not sufficient to prove fluency in a language.

Are you trying to endorse a license?

If you are an internationally educated nurse you must meet the requirements as stated in the regulations enforced by the board of nursing. If you trained overseas in a non English speaking country many boards of nursing still require proof of English proficiency regardless if English is your primary language or your coursework was in English.

If you are confident in your ability to speak English then why wouldn't you just take the test?

We even have had USC take English exams because they trained in a country where English was not first language. Couple other countries now require English exams regardless on where you are from even from English speaking countries are not exempt, for example, Canada and the UK, to name a couple.

If it is a requirement of the state then you have to meet it
