CGFNS/BON applications???

Published

I'm currently a Canadian RN. I passed my CRNE exam and got my CNO license in May, graduated from my BScN in June and have been working a part time job ever since. I am now in the process of trying to get my US nursing license so I can be closer to my fiance and his family. The CGFNS received all my required documentation 5 weeks ago, and their website states the average wait time is about 10 weeks. While I was going through some old threads on here, one poster made it sound like a she had applied to the state BON before the CGFNS had given her final approval. I had always assumed I couldn't apply to the BON until the CGFNS report was finished. Though, I do remember in my CGFNS application having to choose which BON I intended on applying to (Hawaii), so should they have my application first, and the CGFNS will send them my results automatically? Or should I continue to wait it out, and apply once I have my final report?

Also, out of curiosity, is the '10 week wait time' pretty accurate? Or have most people waited longer/shorter?

THANKS!!!!!

Just out of curiosity, is Hawaii the state that you plan to start to find work and practice in once you pass the NCLEX-RN? If so, great, if not, why Hawaii?

Yes, Hawaii is where I plan to live and practice once I pass the NCLEX

You are aware that there are extremely few jobs available for native Hawaiian nurses never mind the US nurses wishing to move to HI and international applicants seeking work post licensing. The cost of living is extremely high as most items must be imported

Yes, I am aware if this. However, that is where my fiance and his family live, so that is where I'll be living and would need to be licensed.

Some states like Florida actually state not to send application until report is ready. I am not aware of Hawaii saying this therefore should be ok to send application in. They will basically do nothing with it until report is issued and put in your file
