Hello, I am new to the forum. I recently moved to Wilmington. I started my degree in bio about 5 years ago and then found I was pregnant a few years back. Taking labs became impossible and I never thought that I would have time to do clinicals and labs with a child but the time has come that I am absolutely miserable with my job as an accountant and my husband said that we will work it out. I need more interaction with people and I love helping people. Seeing I have missed the rn application deadline, I have decided to apply for the lpn program at Cape Fear Community and then to pursue the rn online. I have left messages for the admissions counselor asking what the acceptance rates are, but have yet to receive a response. I know it is on a point based calculation. But am wondering about how many applicants there are.
After reading this site (which is awesome I might add), I have only found info on rn admission rates, not lpn rates. So if anyone knows on average how many applicants there are for the lpn program that would be great.
I am by no means a straight a student but have taken all of the entry requirements but anat & phys 2 (only taken part 1 thus far). I am hoping that I might have a chance of getting in.
Also, I was considering taking the Nurse Aid 1. I know they don't get paid very well but does anyone know what the night salary is at new hanover regional?
If anyone has any info that would be great. Thanks!

Hi Blitz,
Have you considered Brunswick Community College? It's a 20 minute drive and in the past had a very short waiting list. My daughter tried to get into CFCC, and after several years wait, decided to try BCC and got right in. I was very pleased with their program. Of course I held a skills lab and weekly review in my den every Saturday and believe it or not, I enjoyed the review. Best of luck in your future in Nursing.
No I had not even thought of that. I haven't missed the deadline so I am definitely going to apply. Thank you so much! I have not been this excited about school for such a long time. Unfortunately Brunswick's website doesn't have much info on their website. I can't wait to speak to someone on Monday to see how their point system works. I live south of monkey junction so it would be a 40 minute drive. But it is definitely worth it.
Glad to help. My daughter drove from Gorden road each day and it wasn't too bad. If I can ever sell my home where I am at now, I'd be happy to tutor you. I really liked it, and like the faculty.
