CES or CVS-NY?

Published

First of all, Id like to say hello to all of you. I am new here and its good to see all the help and information being shared around.

I have just finished school and am planning on getting my license in New York seeing that most people here think its the "best" way.

What kind evaluation service do i need from CGFNS? CES? or CVS-NY?

I would also like a few pointers on how to go about getting my ATT for NCLEX and then to getting an employer eventually(hopefully). I have read quite a few posts in here and it helped, I just want to make sure I havent missed important things that have not that been really discussed.

for more info on applying for licensure in NY, this link can be very helpful:

it has several pages filled with useful info on the subject.

goodluck!

If you are not planning to work in NY, then do not go that route. Most other states require the CES, and you will not be able to use the CVS for that.

Thank you for the replies. Suzanne4, seeing that you seem to be the most helpful and experienced person in here, what state do you suggest I apply for initial licensing? I havent really found an employer/agency yet, I just want to take the NCLEX and get it over with. This question goes to others who have good inputs as well.

That is not how to do it, there is no reason to waste a few hundred extra dollars if you do not need to do so.

First, get some idea of where you want to work before anything else, this will involve some decision making on your part. Even though you just graduated from nursing school, you are not ready to write the NCLEX exam immediately. Take that into consideration, not all states give you the same amount of time to get the exam done. And you also need to throw in the wait time of about two months to get the exam done over there.

I cannot tell you a state to get licensed in based on the small amont of information that you provided. I would suggest a state that will actually issue you a license without having to submit a SSN# first, so that you can endorse if you need to. And if it one that has CES, or a choice of a couple of other companies for the evaluation, I would only go the route of CES. The others are not accepted in most other states, and you would just need to redo the procedure.

NCLEX exam is the final step in the licensing process, it is not the only step. You also need to meet the requirements of the individual state to get their approval to sit for the exam.

Once again your dedication to help and shed light on things continues to amaze me suzzane4. I wonder where you get your strength...

I talked to my boyfriend and he said he has a relative in Seattle Washington. Her aunt used to run a retirement home there and has a good lawyer if Im not mistaken.

I tried finding the website for Washington BON but i get errors. I was wondering if they require a ssn. Also need to find out if its 'ces' they need. I will do my research on this when i get through their site tho.

Again thanks suzzane4... you made me believe in humanity again...

You are quite welcome.............
