I have an interview at Case Western Reserve in Ohio. Is there anyone who can give me any tips on what to expect? This is a school I really want to get into so I want to do the best I can. I appreciate any advice.

Being yourself is the best person you can be. When compared to the personalities you accommodate, being yourself rates you the highest.

It's quite amazing because to you, it's the same old boring person, but to someone else, it's the maginificent you. In other words, when you play an instrument you specialise in and when you play an instrument you adapt. It's clear that instrument you specialise in sound more pleasing and decent to someone who is an absolute pitch. However, If it's meant to be it will happen, if it's not meant to be you'll find out why in the long run. I wish you nothing, but the best.

Noor,

Congrats on your interview @ Case. I will be interviewing there as well and am very excited. Read through these boards and you will find many tips on interviews along with some very specific information for Case. Good Luck and maybe I'll see you there!

CRNAsoon,

Good luck to you too. Hopefully we'll both get in. Hopefully I'll see you there (even though I have no idea who you are or what day you're going) :chuckle Have you had interviews before, or are you doing anything particular to prepare?

Maxs,

Thanks for the advice. I'll certainly be myself.

:-( My interview is in the afternoon. Are you from the Cleveland area or are you having to travel in?

I graduated from the Case nursing school. They are big on post-BSN nursing, so if you have an interest in going on the get a Masters, etc, let them know. The are also huge on clinicals. Clinicals start the second week of the first year, and by the 4th year, you go to class only one day a week (all day) and work 24 hours of clinical.

Case's NS Dean is big into geriatrics and they are starting more geriatric classes. There is also a flight nursing program.

Also, Case's nursing school is not lacking in ego. They probably do want to hear that you are applying there because it is such a good school and has a good reputation in the medical community. At clinicals sometimes we'd get crap from some nurses who thought we were paying way to much for our education and must therefore think we're better than everyone else.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to know the history of Frances Payne Bolton. She was an important figure in politics as well as nursing.

Lastly, Case is on a mission right now to because "the most powerful learning environment in the world." I'm not making that up - they really said that.

if you have any specific questions, i can try to answer them. :)

ps - the university as a whole is now referred to as "Case" not Case Western Reserve - and the nursing school likes to refer to inself as "FPB" - not Case. Can't hurt to know the lingo!

Traveling in, how about you? I'm from Utah.

This is fantastic information. Thank you for sharing. Unfortunately, I don't think that it will be difficult for me to "gush" about FPB (thanks for the tip) because I moved from out-of-state to just attempt to get accepted. I honestly think that the school is great and would be honored to attend. If I can think of any questions, I'll certainly let you know ... THANKS!

Actually, I moved to the Cleveland area about eight months ago with the hopes of improving my chances of getting in. I know it sounds silly but this is the only school I applied to and the only school that I want to attend. However, if I'm not accepted this year, I will probably expand my application process, as well as, reapply to FPB two more times (they have a three strikes, you're out policy).

Are you applying elsewhere?
