Certification Review Class

Hi everyone. I'm fairly new around here. I graduated this past December with FNP degree. I'm looking to test soon with ANCC (waiting for director to give me my paperwork).

At the beginning of the month I took a review class with APEA and have been studying every day since I graduated. I debated taking the Margaret Fitzgerald live course. I thought the the APEA live course was great but didn't seem to give me any tips and strageties for taking the test. Has anyone taken either live course? Any regrets? I'm wondering if I should shell out more money for the Fitzgerald course.

I took the live Fitzgerald course and felt it was very valuable. I still refer back to the course book given out for review. There were practice questions discussed in the course. Felt more prepared afterward for the ANCC exam. Good Luck!

I have the APEA home study cds and found Amile Hollier to be worthwhile. However, I also just got the Barkley Review home course and it is so much more in depth, more review of content as opposed to clinical situations. I find the two courses compliment each other. I also purchased the Mosby online FNP review and it can not even begin to compare to the Barkley. Mosby was totally not worth it.

They are offering the Fitzgerald at my school in May but other students who graduated before me told me it was so not worth the money. I've also personally come to the conclusion that a 3 day review class is a waste of money because it's so much content crammed into such a short time. With cds you can play it over and over, take your time, take breaks, if you miss what was said or have to look up something just hit pause, you permanently have the info...

I just took the AANP FNP exam yesterday..and passed! :yeah:

I didn't attend any live review courses, but I did purchase the CDs from Fitzgerald's and Amelie Hollier. I personally liked Amelie's CDs better because she didn't ramble on and on and on about little meaningless things. I also did the Mosby's online review and found it to be quite the waste of money.

I think what helped me the most was doing hundreds and hundreds of practice questions. During the exam yesterday, I had several questions that were nearly word-for-word out of the review books.

Good luck!
