Hello Everyone!!!

I hope all is well during this week of finals!!! I just have a few questions, if anyone is in the same track as me in reaching my goal to be an RN.

I am currently in my 3rd semester of a 2yr RN program and has a BS degree in another field from a foreign country. Before I applied in the program, the guidance councilor told me that I do not need to get my Associates Degree in Nursing since I already have my bachelor's degree in Biology, she said that when I apply for the Nclex, they will credit my previous degree and can even continue directly to the master's program if I decide to go on. Now that I am almost done with the program, I noticed that not a lot of students or I have never met a student that is in the same situation as I am in.

Is there anybody here who is in the same track as I am in right now? Does anyone know if with a certificate of completion in nursing obtained here in california be valid in different states? Will I have the same chance in applying for work or a new grad program as others who have BSN or ADN degrees?

Thank you in advance for the response and good luck to all of you who are having their finals!!!

Should you apply for a job that specifies a BSN requirement, you will find yourself in a situation where the prospective employer most likely will eliminate you for not meeting their minimum requirement. Employers can and do split hairs when choosing from a large pool of applicants.

CA has some unique licensing options which places people in bad situations when they try to endorse their CA license into other states. These unique CA licenses are not accepted outside of the state of CA.

Although you and I both know that you would be equally qualified, you must "do what everyone else does" in order to be considered equally. By not having an ADN, BSN, or MSN, you would be at a definite disadvantage. Do whatever you need to do in order to get the same type of nursing degree as others. Save yourself future disappointment.
