I was hoping if anyone went to Center of Allied Health and Nursing Education in Hackensack, NJ and if so I need to know about the Exit Exam. I failed the exit exam just took a few days ago with an 83 an dpassing is 85 as you should know. When you fail the exam and you come back to take it again do you get the same version? Are the exams basically similar the 2nd time around? Would love to know

From what I have heard, the exit exam is supposed to be HARDER than the NCLEX. Also, you can only take the exit exam 2 or 3 times, but you can take the NCLEX an unlimited number of times. No other type of school uses an exit exam and I find the whole concept to be absurd. Medical schools don't. Law schools don't. Engineering scools don't. Why does nursing?

The NCLEX is tough. The exit exam is an essential part of your nursing education. I took my entrance exam at Center of Allied Health and Nursing Education today and got a 93 and 95 in Reading Comprehension and Math. I asked about the exit exam and the admissions rep was honest with me. 40% of students do not pass the exit exam on the first try. Nothing in exam is new..everything in it was studied during the program. It's a matter of applying yourself and studying for the exam. That exit exam is the reason why they have a 97% pass rate on the NCLEX. I personally think it's a good thing.

It depends on how bad a person you want. Every school I researched had a flip side to it. So exit exam big deal I'm not going to let that intimidate me.Before long every nursing school will have it. You have to be tested constantly no school wants you making them look bad. Plus without the exit exam you will get to n-clex and fail. I don't think about failing because I study! Anyway good luck to you

For the record, my mother is an RN and never had to take an exit exam. My uncle is an MD and never had to take an exit exam. And don't judge the exit exam based on the entrance test. The exit is a thousand times harder since it includes eveything you learned in NS. Most entrance exams are merely high school level reading and math.

I totally understand that the entrance exam is a piece of cake. What I am trying to say is that an exit exam is not a bad thing. I agree with a previous post that said soon all nursing schools will have exit exams. The school only wants to make sure that its graduates are knowledgeable in the field and that they will pass the NCLEX. And it's not like they're trying to trick you or throw you a curve ball by making you take an exit exam, everything in it will have been taught in your program. To each his own. I personally agree with the purpose behind exit exams. :)

The purpose of the exit exam is not to benefit the student. It's so that they can maintain a 100% NCLEX passage rate and use that to increase enrollment. If a school is so concerned about their students passing the NCLEX then they should ensure that their curriculum and faculty are up to par. For instance, I've noticed that at many vocational schools the instructors dont't seem to be as qualified as those at traditional schools since they only have a BSN. But at 4 year schools, virtually all instructors have an MSN and often doctorates.

I'd have to agree with you about the instructors. I would much rather attend a traditional RN program but unfortunately, I do not have the time for it. I have a child to take care of and I've been unemployed for a year now. I have to take the LPN route so I can support my family ASAP. I still don't think we will see eye to eye about the exit exam. Some students retain the information they learn for the short term. Pass their tests and forget it. I feel like an exit exam prevents unprepared students from entering the field. Also, the school obviously uses their passing rate to encourage prospective students to enroll. If I were the director of admissions, I would use it to my advantage too. A passing rate is a passing rate. It doesn't matter how they got it. It means that the school isn't throwing out unprepared students left and right. I would trust that a graduate of a school with a 95% passing rate will take good care of me. I would feel comfortable having a nurse from that school watching over me. Either the students know the information or they don't. If they don't know the information, they're in no position to graduate.

No school graduates "unprepared" students since they all must pass the NCLEX. And I really can't take any NCLEX passage rate from a NS that uses exit exams seriously. In a way, they are cooking their books, just like Enron and Lehman Brothers.

In The Center for Allied Health only about 2% of people pass the exit on the 1st try!!!!! So i dont know who told you that 60% pass on the 1st try. Let me tell you its a lie. About 50% of my class still did not pass exit and some took it 2 times and some 3. You get 4 chance. Just because you did good on the entrance does not mean you will do good on the exit. Its a very hard school to get out of. Good Luck.

I would avoid any school that has an exit exam. In a worst case scenario, you pass all your classes, fail the exit exam, give up a year of your life, are out $20k, and have no diploma to show for it.

That happened to my friend at the center for Allied Health and Education. She is out of the money and she lost 18 months of her life. And she is not stupid. But most schools have exit exams and only give students 2 chances to pass. Allied Health and education gives you 4 chances.

Exit is not easy but it is an honest indicator of how well you will do on NCLEX. Whoever said 2% is WRONG. In my group of 15 only 2 did not pass on first try.

Maybe you class needed to focus better
