Hi...I'm planning to take CEN exam and have started using the Lippincott's Q&A in Emergency Nursing book. I'm wondering if anyone has used this book recently and taken the exam. I'd like to know if the questions in the LWW book resembles the level of difficulities in the actual exam. If the LWW book is not enough, what other books should I use? Thanks - AC

I got the one from ENA. It's a Kendall-Hall title. I thought it covered the material well, it's also a good refresher of whole nursing education. It covers all the systems and sub fields from GI to Psych.

Wishing you success tomorrow. Don't worry about it, stop studying and relax tonight. I recently took the CEN with no time to study, partly, just to have the experience so I would know what to study for the next time (expecting to fail). Well, guess what, I passed with just under a year experience in the ED. I think that because I didn't allow myself to worry, I was relaxed throughout the exam. Now, since you have studied and have a good foundation built prior to the exam----YOU WILL PASS. The only thing that can hurt you now is second guessing yourself...go with your gut feelings and you can't go wrong. There will be diseases on there I never even heard about before and remember your basics of pediatrics. Also, 25 of those questions don't count; so, don't sweat it if you get stuck on a question. Let us know how much you passed by tomorrow.
First I want to thak you for the supportive words prior to my taking the CEN
I did pass, though while taking the test it reminded me of taking my state boards..
AC, of all the books I studied from the Lippincott's was the closest in resemblance to the exam (with Mosby's taking a very close second).....same style of question and close wording....I did find however many of the questions were familiar yet going in a totally diffrent direction.
I think that loricatus put it best when saying to not second guess yourself....very true (and thank you again) as I found several times where I wanted to go back and change an answer but didn't, mostly because of that advice.
Anything else you need or want to talk about on this let me know.
Best of luck to you and always remember the basics ABC
