I never had any physical problems when I was on Celexa, but everyone's response to medication is, of course, totally individualized. Have you called the doctor? I was once on Desyrel and had the most horrible reactions, but the doctor was unimpressed because there was no mention of my particular symptoms in the literature. She didn't care that the side effects came on within ten minutes of my taking each dose. I refused to continue taking it.
I would ask all members here keep their stories anecdotal and refrain for giving any medical advice.
That said, it's true that some SSRIs can cause a whole gaggle of side-effects. This is why some prescribers ask you refrain from driving, operating dangerous machinery or signing legal documents, until you know how they will affect you.
If side effects disturb you greatly, you need to contact your HCP/prescriber about these and discuss how best to proceed.
Best wishes to you.
Hi,
Keeping with the anecdotal theme only - when I started on Celexa, it kicked me in the rear end for the first several weeks until my body adjusted - very tired, sluggush, and sometimes a little disconnected. After the adjustment period, no more side effects for me (and I feel lots better)! Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for relating their stories. Thanks Blu..I should have said that too...I'm definitely not seeking medical advice, just wanted to know I wasn't alone in the weird side effects. :)
The sluggish and tired feeling is what I have today..not so much the disconnection luckily. I have tons of homework to get done today..can't afford to feel weird!! :) If this stuff doesn't work..we're trying Lexapro next..essentially the same thing but my insurance wouldn't cover it because it's the "next step" from Celexa..sheesh!

Anyone here ever taken Celexa? I started on Friday and I'm noticing that I feel a bit disconnected from myself right now. I'm not anxious at all, which is good because that was my problem, but I feel like my head and my body aren't together right now. Just wondered if that was a normal side effect when starting this med. I was not depressed much at all..doc prescribed for anxiety with very mild depression (lots of crap has happened this year..it's understandable. :)). This is a new feeling for me..I'm not sure if it's normal or not. :)
Thanks for any help/stories of your own use that you can offer!!
