Cedars Sinai New Grad Spring 2022 Cohort

Updated:   Published

Hello everybody. My name is Bianca, and I'm a nurse residing in NYC. I started this thread for anybody who applied for the Spring 2022 New Graduate cohort and wanted to connect. I did not know this program even existed until yesterday when the recruiter recommended it to me after being ineligible for another position. With that being said, I wish everybody the best of luck and hope all of us get picked for our respective units ? (My 1st choice is Main OR and my Second choice is General Medicine, I think 8S- General Surgical)

was this after submitting the application or doing the interview?

After submitting the application. Last round applications were due on 11/08 and peeps started hearing back by 11/17. So pretty quick!

It sounds like we should be hearing back starting next week or the week after. I am super excited. Off-topic, but it's almost been a week and the New Grad applications are still open. I guess they still have not recieved the 200 candidates who meet the requirements.

Hey I just wanted to update everybody on what’s going on. So unfortunately I was ineligible for the new grad program because I had more than 9 months experience. However, I was eligible for a transition to practice program (I’m not 100% sure what it is either) but with that being said, I’m supposed to be interviewing for the Advanced Heart Failure Unit tomorrow and I’m super nervous but really confident (also, this unit was not my preference but I’ll take it). So I’ll have an update on everything tomorrow. I hope Everyone is doing well ☺️

Congratulations! Wow they’re interviewing you really quickly, that must mean they’re super interested in hiring you. Good luck you’re gonna do great!

I just received the email from Cedars that I’ve been selected to interview. I’m so excited! Unclear which unit I’ll be interviewing with but I would be stoked for either one.

Thank you!! ? My best friend said the same thing, and I'm hoping that's the case. Everything happened so fast. The recruiter asked for my availability this week to interview with 6S yesterday and first thing this morning I got my interview date.
Also, congratulations to you!! Which unit did you apply for? Maybe it’s one of them

Hi. I just saw this thread. I wish you all luck. I am in the Winter cohort now. I think it took us about 10 days last time to hear back about the interview, so hope it works out for everyone! I am in the OR.  If anyone has any questions, let me know. ?

Thanks!! Are you still in orientation? I wanted to do OR but I guess OR doesn’t want to do me lmao. Im just super nervous about tomorrow. I’m meeting with basically the nurses and directors of the unit. How was the interview process for you? Was it hard? What kind of questions did they ask?

haha. awww. I am sure you would do well in the OR. Did you interview there? We finished our main orientation with all the new grads (we have a total of 47 for all units this cohort). People on other units are already working with their preceptors on the floor. For OR, it's a little different. We spend about a month learning other things before we start our rotations (we rotate to all the OR floors and then work mid-shift and night shift before we start on our regular unit).

Well my story is a little complicated. So I did the new grad RN application and my two units of choice were Main OR and Med-Surg. However, I ended up not getting picked because I had more than 9 months of experience. Then I found I was eligible for a different program but we weren’t able to chose our units. I was just handed an interview with the heart failure unit. I guess I’ll just have to wait another year for OR.

Oh, I see. Well, that will probably be a good thing in the long run. It's great have general med-surg experience for anything you do. If you get hired on a different unit and decide you don't like bedside, you can always talk to your manager. they are very supportive and if you decided you wanted to try the OR, I think they would work with you. they are really into helping their staff be happy and making a lateral move if your current position isn't your cup of tea. Keep an open mind, and I think you will land where you are supposed to. Good luck!

Thank you!! I just Have a few questions before you leave…how was the interview and the starting pay if you don’t mind sharing. I would assume it’s a lot (or better than what I’m making)

Hey everybody so I just had my interview and lord was I so nervous. Since I’m in the transitional program they asked a lot about my ambulatory experience, how I deal with difficult patients, about myself in general. I think they were satisfied that I had some experience with cardiac patients and EKGs. When I asked about the length of orientation, it sounds like he didn’t really know the length which lets me know this program is very new and up in the air (or he just didn’t want to tell me) At the very end they asked if I prefer day or night shift (so I think that’s a good sign / IDK ????) but I will be sending an email in a few thanking them. Happy hump day y’all
