I just want to thank everyone who has shared their study tips in passing the CCRN. I took the exam today and passed it with a score of 105 (passing score is 87). I am so happy and really proud of myself. Thank you guys😀😀😀

Mind sharing some of your tips?:) I've just started studying and want to take mine by August or September. What helped you most? Questions? Videos? Any particular prep course or book? What was your study plan like?

Thank you. Of course, I will be more than happy to share. For two months, I tried my best to study (on and off) since I have a full time night nursing job and just recently gave birth 3 months ago. Certain days I could not study and in some days, I did between 1hr to 8hrs worth of studying.I took a membership at the AACN, purchased the CCRN review course, and bought the practice CCRN exam booklet. Sorry, I can no longer recall their prices. I also purchased the 4th edition PASS CCRN review book, which is about $64 something dollars in amazon. Such review book has a code that you can use to access an online bank of more than 1000 questions that you can practice over and over again. Questions can be studied via a study mode or a test mode. These questions pretty much cover the things you need to know, review, and prepare for the CCRN exam. The Neurology part though does not cover a lot of questions. It needs more review questions about stroke and brain injuries.

I stated watching the videos of the AACN review webinar in order..body system by body system while reading the power point presentations that come with each lecture and write down notes. Once I finished each system/category, I would do the questions through a study mode with each category. I read the rationales carefully and learned from them..jotting down and remembering/memorizing the important topics. I came to the point where I remembered most of the answers. I did these questions over and over again and kept on rereading and understanding the different concepts on the rationales. And let me tell you this, these questions/rationales helped me tremendously. A week before the exam, I was doing the questions via the test mode. The only bad thing about it is some questions get repeated that could affect your scores.

Congrats for passing! Thanks for your study tips, I plan on taking the exam around October. Just finished taking Advanced Patho, do you think this will also help immensely?

It probably would. But, I think that pass ccrn is sufficient as long as u will do the questions n read rationales.

What do you think is a good way to study. I'm thinking of buckling down with the AACN essentials of critical care book and then doing review questions. But some are saying the online courses with video lectures are the best way to go. But I'm noticing they are all like $299 to $350

I looked through the pass ccrn book but i only used it as a reference. I spent a good solid and dedicated month to watching the laura gasparis dvd's 3 times and doing the pass ccrn online practice questions and reading the rationales. the gasparis dvd's were moderately helpful but the pass ccrn is what i mainly used to study and do practice questions. It was a very difficult test but i passed with a pretty good score with like 4 areas with 100% including cardiovascular. that's just what i used, find what works best for you and stick with it. best of luck

Thank you so much. I will do that then. Use the pass CCRN book and the essentials for content and then maybe some YouTube videos. I just did not want to spend 350 on her o line video course if it's not needed

I would like to take CCRN soon. I have completed the required hours (worked in ICU full time for a year) but halfway through my year I switched employers. Does anyone know what I can do to provide verification of the hours worked?
