CCRI Spring (Jan) start.. a few questions

This is my first post to this site :) Everytime I would Google a question, this site would come up, so I figured I should join and maybe pick some of your brains. :redpinkhe

I've been researching different nursing programs because I'm leaving my career of 11 years to finally fulfill a dream that I've had for a long time. I'm currently finishing up the pre-reqs (I'm taking Anatomy/Phys, Dosage, Health Careers this summer and Micro in the fall).

My question is, I will not have my Micro grade until the end of the fall semester. I know that I need all of my pre-reqs completed to apply. Will I still be able to apply for the spring start at CCRI? I've seen a few posts about an "open application session" in the beginning of January. What are the odds of getting in that late?

I'm afraid that I'm killing myself trying to take all of these classes this summer when BCC (for example) does not require the Dosage or Health Careers class. I could just concentrate on the BIOs this summer/fall and hopefully get into BCC, Massasoit or Brockton Hospital next fall (2011). I've been going back and forth. I'd hate to take on too much and effect my GPA. Decisions, decisions...

So, after my rambling... does anyone know about the January "open application session" for the Spring start at CCRI?

Hi,

This past spring semester the open enrollment period was from Jan. 4th to Jan. 15th. It will probably be the same for spring '11 too.

Welcome to the boards!

I know that CCRI has really been having a hard time filling all the slots for the program as they don't have a waiting list anymore.

For last spring, they had an open enrollment just before the semester started, and several people got in that way.

I would just say, have everything you need together when you apply. Make sure your immunizations are up-to-date, have your CPR completed, etc. I think it will only help if you can show you are ready to start at a moments notice.

I wish you luck with finishing up your pre-reqs and getting into the program.

I'm starting my second semester in the fall, and am pretty happy with everything so far.

I am in the same boat!

I'm suprised none of the application periods for 2011 have been announced yet. Have you heard anything else? Its October and we still dont know when the exact application periods will be soon.

How is your Micro going? I am in it now too with an older gentleman as a prof- you?

Are you going to put in your application in now? I am thinking about it.

So frustrated with the whole application process!

I am going to apply before the end of this month. I figure, the worst they can say is "no" and then I'll try again if there is an open application period in January. I'm desperately trying to get in for the spring. I just took the TEAS 3 weeks ago (thank God that's over, lol!)

I haven't heard if there will be an open app period in January (everything is so secretive/quiet!). However, I'm making myself believe there will be, lol.

I'm taking Micro at BCC and transferring the credit. When I went to register, all of the fall Micro classes at CCRI were full and I wanted/needed to take it this semester. It's going ok, but it's far from my favorite subject, :down: I was thinking the other day that maybe NETech's new nursing program might help us out. It will take some candidates out of the "pool" :up:

Did you ever find out if you can apply before the semester is over, or do you have to wait until you finish completely before you apply?

I haven't heard anything. I'm going to apply anyway. My grades were posted for everything on my account except the Micro and Intro to Health (which I'm in right now). When do they notify people, do you know?

a friend applied this Oct for the Spring start...she is still finishing up her final pre-req's but her degree eval said everything was met so she turned it in. she got it sent back to her with a letter stating that because she wasnt complete with her final pre-rqes (meaning she didnt have final grades), her application was denied :(

Lilkuz06 - did you hear anything back from the school? which campus did you apply to? are you planning on taking classes in the spring if you dont get in? I signed up for psyc 2010

I tried to apply 2 weeks ago and they wouldn't take the app out of my hand! They said they refused to take it because I hadn't completed (final grades) Micro and Health Careers :(

I guess I'll just hope for a small open admission window in January!

hi i need some advice i applied in october for spring and just got the letter no one wants, has anyone had this situation before and what did you do? please let me know i need any advice!!!
