Beanie, a couple of my friends at CCRI have been in the same situation as you over the past few semesters (I haven't even applied yet *sigh* still working on my prerequisites). My one friend just reapplied over the next few application periods and was accepted I believe the second time she did that. Some application periods are more competitive. But my other friend decided to retake the courses she didn't do so hot in, and brough her GPA up and then was accepted. Either way I wish you luck! :-D

I haven't applied to RIC's nursing program yet, but I HAVE applied to the school itself and it's not difficult to get into imo. I've heard conflicting stories, so I'm not sure what route to take either (either going to CCRI first and transferring or doing it all at RIC). With RIC, there are still prereqs you have to complete (similar to CCRI with the addition of chemistry, I believe) before you can apply to the nursing program itself. However, I've heard that at RIC if you start there as a freshman you're more likely to get into the nursing program, and that they have a specific number of transfers they allow into the program each semester. I'm not sure if that is right, but it sounds like it could be the truth. You have no college credit so I believe they would start you as a freshman, which would work in your favor in that respect. I think for RIC you'll need to take your SAT's for acceptance. I also remember seeing that there's a rule in the handbook at RIC that says freshman transfers are those who have earned less than 24 credits. So, you could probably go ahead and take your spring classes at CCRI while at the same time trying to set up a meeting with someone at RIC who could answer all of these questions in much more detail. Did you ever find out if you can apply before the semester is over, or do you have to wait until you finish completely before you apply?

Thank you! I've managed to find some help for part of the day, so the early 7am start isn't a problem. However were I to get 12 hour clinicals I don't think I could do them. I guess if it comes to that I can always ask the prof's to switch me or appeal. I'll have to look into that more if it becomes a situation. Once again, thanks so much for your help :-)

I was just wondering what a typical day student schedule would look like Is it Monday-Friday? I know the days for lectures and clinicals will be different, but I have a kid who will need to be in daycare, and they only allow me to keep him there from 7am - 5:30pm. I was wondering if that would be enough time or if I would have to put off nursing school? Thanks for the advice in advance.

I read on the CCRI nursing website that depending on what you score on the TEAS, anatomy, and physiology, as well as ACCUPLACER will determine if you get accepted right away or put on a wait list. I was just wondering if any one could tell me what scores they are looking for. I have a 4.0 GPA. Accuplacer: Arithmetic 110 Elementary Algebra 114 College Math 51 Reading 111 Sentence Skills 100 I haven't taken the teas yet. Could anyone offer insight to what your scores to these things were if you were accepted? Also, are there any additional requirements I'm missing? Thanks
