I figured I would start this topic to lower my anxiety just a little. I took the health allied test today and I have to wait till next week to get my scores. I really feel like im on pins and needles right now and I know I'll be a nervous wreck when I actually wait for my acceptance. Before I even got started on my journey to be a nurse I came across this website and It really answered a lot of questions about the application process, and was insightful in other areas of nursing that enabled me to think of more questions for answering. what I really love the most was that in previous years ccp applicants supported each other during the nerve wrecking waiting period on getting accepted. that support was so tremendous that a lot of the applicants bonded and became friends. Is there anyone else that has applied for the 2014 CCP program?
Danad320,
In reference to you taking any that you "don't have to" that is clearly up to you. It all depends on what your next step is after completing the program at CCP. Many people have completed classes outside of those listed in the prereqs and in the major requirements with their next goal being to obtain their BSN.
You also mentioned 10 prereqs before Nursing School. You do not need that many. Lets say you are out of High School for over 10 years so therefore you complete the required prereqs at CCP. You could take the STS course to cover your Bio and Chem if you did not want to take them seperately. If you test into Eng 101 and Math 118 you would be okay to apply to the Nursing program upon completion (and with a good GPA). Now if you wanted to knock the Math and English out too you could take the STS course and the Eng 101 and Math 118 over one or two semesters and then apply for the Nursing program. Then you would just need to complete the Allied Health Test to apply for entrance into the Nursing Program.
Any other courses can be completed concurrently while you are in the program (I don't recommend this). I don't know how stressful that might be taking some of the other courses along with the Nursing courses. Previous students have indicated that the Nursing Courses are actually like taking 4 different classes each semester and the reading is extensive.
The courses below I think represent the 10 you were referring to completing before Nursing School:
Bio
Chem
AP1
AP2
Micro
Psych
Eng 101
Eng 102
Computers
Math 118
Just know that it is not mandatory that you take all of these before beginning but it is highly recommended especially if you are not attending school full time only (meaning not having to juggle a job and family life too). I hope this made things a little clearer for you. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions!!
Hey guys my enrollment profile just changed to nursing this afternoon..however, I was unable to register for classes online because am a transfer student and a first time student to the school. I dont wanna wait till march 24th to register because i want a schedule that will fit my work schedule. Is there any way for me to register before on the 24th of march. Also whenever I want to register, the page always asks for alternate pin

Your schedule is the same as mine. We might be classmates in one of those classes.
