2012 CCP Nursing program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has received their acceptance letters for the fall 2012 program yet and if so how many points did you have?

Any of you aware of where to go for low cost immunization titers in the city? I'll be paying out of pocket for now.

when I went to lpn school i used CVS Minute Clinic and everything was pretty affordable...I also used Gary Salzman, DO for my titres. He is really nice even though he has a ghetto practice but his prices are affordable. I think a physical is 45 and i paid around 100 for titres but there are plenty of other local clinics to visit...best to use google. also since you have til july I would look into actually obtaining some insurance out of pocket by using some of the popular online services. You would save money because I remember paying around a total of 600 for all of my medical needs for LPN school and that was 2010...with inflation and greed you would definitely pay more

Whatever man I'm done with them lol ... Let's just hope that it's not this disorganized come fall. I feel like once it get started ( fall ) that's when they'll become more organized ... Hopefully !

I agree but I think the worst part is over - trying to figure out how to get INTO the program. Like calling with a question and being on hold for 20 minutes only to find out they can't answer your question. That was a nightmare...I think I got more info from allnurses.com than the CCP staff.

I totally missed the whole SS# verification part, but I was so tired and starved I didn't care at the time :) Oh well. And I really wish they had mentioned that we needed . As far as running back and forth, I figure I have to go back there to hand in my health forms, anyway.

Good luck with getting everything done, everyone!

Just wanted to share my news that I received a call from Pennsylvania Hospital about them wanting to interview me for a job in the admissions department this coming friday. I'm crossing my fingers. Hopefully they do not want someone 9-5 monday thur friday because then I will be screwed obviously..lol

Wow that's amazing !!! I can't imagine it going anyway other way but to ur benefit . I hope it works out !!! I applied to Einstein for this behavioral associate position and it doesn't seem to overwhelming but who knows . I haven't heard back but I just submitted my app two days ago. Idk we will see . Congratulations on the interview . Has anyone completed their medical requirements ???

The only thing I worry about is I have little to NO job experience and I believe, to employers, thats better than education. They want somebody who has been around the block when it comes to doing a certain job and me being a recent graduate I really haven't been in the professional job market . The last job and only job I had that paid me over 11 dollars an hour was in 08 and that was telemarketing. I feel that I'm at a disadvantage because all I have on my resume is two jobs that have nothing to to with medicine . All the jobs I apply to require experience and I'm lacking in that greatly !!! Any suggestions ??? I know the job market is very competitive and I thought I offered a competitive resume but I don't think that's the case .... I chose nursing because it's a sure way for me to get into medicine and gain experience but other than that I don't see me having any chance to get a job that requires experience without me having any !!! Ugh I'm so confused

It really depends on the position. If it is entry level than sometimes they would rather hire someone they can train to do the job. Other times they won't hire without experience. Its rough. When I got out of computer school I must of applied to 200 different jobs and finally I received a call from a man looking to hire directly out of school. He didn't want anyone with bad habits, he was much more interested in molding and training a person than dealing with someone with experience who does things the wrong way. I'm on the opposite end of you, I have too much experience. All the jobs I've been applying for only require 1-2 years experience but being that I was an office manager I think they believe I would want far too much money when in reality I'm willing to get paid 15 an hour just to get in somewhere and get the experience of a hospital setting. I must of applied to at least 50 different jobs since March, all different hospitals, and this is the only call back I've gotten. My friend god a job working for Einstein and she had no experience. When they finally had an opening I applied and they didn't even want to interview me..I was like wth she had no experience and got the job, I have 6 yrs experience, yet i get no call.

I see . I guess it really depends on the job ! How do u determine if a job is entry level ? They don't usually say we are hiring right out of school and if they do where ? Because that's where I need to send an app lol. Most of the jobs I apply to want some kind of experience , not a lot but some and I just have none . I just need something before nursing school because these expenses are growing each and everyday !!! Thanks crystal

Bryce, I would say if you need to spice up your resume, volunteer. I wouldn't have the job I have now (which I have to leave soon, by the way) if it wasn't for all of my volunteer experience, which in many cases counts as experience. Also, network. Tell everyone that you're looking. People you know might know others who have connections, and you can ask them to take your resume to HR. Make sure you have a really good cover letter. I think the hardest part is being patient :)

Good luck on your interview, Crystal!

Alot of times it will say entry-level within the job requirements or it will say high-school diploma or GED required with no additional requirements other than some computer experience or something. Like proficient in MS word. Things like that. Also it may say something like experience is a plus. You should always apply even if you don't meet every requirement just to get your resume out there. Just make sure your resume stands out a little. My husband has to hire someone at his job and he is going through batches of resumes. Most of them are so generic and look the same. Use some fancy fonts, underlining, etc so that it doesn't look exactly like every other resume they are used to seeing. If you want email me yours and I'll look at. Maybe I can give you some pointers.
