CCNE vs. NLNAC

In looking into school options, I am finding that some are accredited as "CCNE" while others are as "NLNAC". What is the difference between the two and is either one better than the other?

    In the olden days, there was only NLNAC -- a division of the NLN (National League for Nursing). Then, the Association of Collegiate Nurses (I think that's their name, but that might not be exactly the correct wording) formed and began its own accrediting agency (CCNE) for the purpose of focusing on schools that were at the Bachelor's level or higher.

    The NLNAC still does Diploma program and ADN programs. They will also accredit BSN programs. CCNE does not do programs below the Bachelor's level and/or programs not found in in colleges or universities. Their standards may be a little higher in some academic aspects, but both are reputable accrediting agencies.
