CCBC FALL 2019

Published

Hi all!

I just submitted my application to CCBCs Essex Day program for Fall '19. I immediately felt like I was going to puke! (hopefully this is a good indication?!) Anyway, I would love to connect with other applicants, so we can worry together.

Hoping to hear back from some of you!

Right...I feel like I am waiting for my letter. They were fast with us. Good luck to everyone including me daughter. It’s a hard program for sure...2 more exams

Am I understanding that you are currently in the program? What is your typical weekly schedule? Class and clinical?

I am in the program...n my last semester. The first semester was a difficult due to the 3 classes, material and exams on top of clinical. Once you get pass the first semester it get better. The exams come around more frequently but u only focus on one thing at a time.

I'm in the second half of my second semester in the evening/weekend program. I'm an ATB student, so my first semester I was in class three nights a week (for two courses), lab/clinical Saturday and/or Sunday, and then my Frostburg class was completely online.

After the first semester, your semesters are "split" in a sense- you will take a Concepts class for the first half of the semester (basically Med-Surg classes) and then a specialty for the second half. That being said- if you don't pass Concepts, you are not permitted to take the specialty. We went from a class of 40 to a class of 26 after Concepts I. I'm not saying this to scare anyone- the content you'll be learning isn't what makes nursing school difficult. The content itself is very straightforward, it's the time management and organization and prioritizing that seems to throw people off. It's really easy to fall behind (especially if like the majority of the E/W students you also work full time and/or have little ones at home).

Good luck!

Oh yeah that’s another thing...if ur in the ATB u have to remember those classes. Record and stay focus!!!

I just hope they really give out the results before spring break because I leave for Jamaica on 4/11 and I would like to know my results by then. Here’s a question, do we get to choose our clinical site?

Nope

Dang! I was really hoping that I could choose where I wanted to go for clinicals. Do you know how they decide?

As far as clinicals go...ya get what ya get. I'm not sure there's any rhyme or reason as to how we're grouped.

No, you just get what u get. I have had BWMC, GBMC, St. Joe, Bayview, Union and Now Franklin

Mkay, thanks. You wouldn’t happen to know the hospitals they send you to ??

Nvm, Kay just answered lol. That’s a lot of switching. You switch every semester?
