CCBC Essex, Nursing Fall 2017

Hello Friends,

I am sure that many of you might have already applied for the nursing program at CCBC. I just submitted my application for ATB nursing day program for fall 2017 at CCBC Essex. I wish you all the good luck for acceptance into the program. If you are applying at CCBC and wants to stay connected, please comment below. I hope we all get accepted into the program.

I just received an update on my CAS application! It is now verified and complete.

My overall GPA was calculated as 3.11 and my science GPA was calculated as 2.81.

Does anyone know if CCBC will use this calculation? Because this calculation is ALL the classes I have ever taken in college. I am wondering if CCBC will possibly recalculate the GPA for only required courses for the nursing program? For my science I have A&P= B Micro=B which should be a 3.0. But they are using my Bio 110 C which is bringing my science GPA down (this course was required for when I applied to dental hygiene).

I'm sure they will end up using this calculation because that is my luck lol but this is frustrating they would use all courses!

Anyone else in this same boat?!

They don't go by the CAS application, a lot of people say that it's way off from their actual GPA. So I think CCBC just takes the prerequisites for your program and calculates your GPA from that. I've also heard from Miss Degner that for the nursing program they don't even look at what you got in BIO 110.

That is really good news. Last night I was freaking out and doing more calculations. I saw that on the application they included my repeated classes also in the GPA calculation. I took Sociology, English, Psychology and Chem and received C's. I retook all 4 courses and improved my grades. So with the CAS calculation they put me at 3.11 and if you don't include those original 4 classes then it would be 3.43 which is a huge jump (this is using all classes other than my repeated).

No problem!! I've also heard that as long as you have over a 3.0 you should get in, I know there are lots of other factors like the TEAS scores and how many other people applied but I'm just hoping for the best here!

Yesterday I received a call from Valerie from admissions- my Teas score was sent directly to CCBC when I took it last year. She called to tell me she could only view my overall teas score... she couldn't see the individual scores for each section...

I called ATI to see what the deal was and they told me the breakdown was sent. I called admissions back and told her she should be able to see everything & if she is having trouble she needs to contact ATI to walk her through it...

Hoping she will figure out how to see my reading score by the 31st! I feel like I am the middle man right now!

She also confirmed that CCB will calculate your GPA and to NOT listen to the CAS application (just like you guys said) :)

Hi guys, So im really freaked out and Im not sure if anyone else has had a similar experience but one of my transcripts is still not received in CAS I have sent it three times now. I sent it over night delivery this last time but they still hadnt processed it. When I called CAS again they said it could take up to a week after it arrived to be processed which would put me past the deadline. Will this make me ineligible if they do not have it by the deadline???

I think you need to have the application filled out and paid for by the deadline. They allow some extra time for the transcripts to be received and processed because it can take a while if they get backed up. Mine did not get processed until the first or second week of February last year and it was fine.

Hi hon918, that is such a relief! :) if you dont mind me asking what program did you apply to and how long did it take for you to find out if you were accepted?

When I got the email saying CCBC had all of my materials it said they would take about 6-8 weeks after the deadline to process the applications so I'm guessing that's when we find out if we were accepted or not. Which will be in the end of March.

I did Essex evening/weekend and we were e-mailed on 3/16 last year with decisions.
