Hi all,
Just wondering about anyone's experience with the CCBC ATB Program? Haven't seen much discussion about it but maybe I am missing a good thread somewhere. Did you find it to be a good value? Which BSN program did you complete? Or are you currently enrolled? What is the schedule like? Do you find that the 2 schools communicate well with each other, bureaucracy-wise? Any feedback is appreciated. I am interested in this because it seems like a more affordable way of obtaining the BSN while still being associated with good curriculum/s. Thinking of TU or FSU as the partner school for CCBC, for what that's worth. Thank you!

I would love to hear feedback also, I just got accepted to the ccbc TU ATB program and so far all I know is instead of taking NURN 155 on Tuesdays at CCBC I will take a class at TU on Tuesdays. It seems like a cheaper way to get a bachelors but I have no idea how the financial aid works : / I wish there was more info on this!
Congratulations on being accepted! That is wonderful I hadn't even thought about how the financial aid would work being split across 2 schools- great point......

I can provide some information because I'm in third semester here although I'm not in the atb program. I was offered to apply to towson but I declined because I did not want to attend the school. Attending ccbc and the university can be overwhelming. When I first applied to ccbc the atb program only had towson. Several of my classmates have told me that towson classes were much easier than ccbc and they they had to work 10 times harder at ccbc and still earn lower grades than they were receiving at towson. Sometimes there maybe conflicting information between schools. In my second semester none of the atb students had to take a course concurrently so that was good because the pace of second semester is really fast. I'm not sure about the success rate of the atb program but quite a number of people have been kicked out of the program due to failure of one class at ccbc. My advice is to work really hard and stay organized.
Thank you so much for your comments- I appreciate the insight you have given in comparing the programs. I have read that the CCBC nursing program is very well-respected and rigorous and I am glad to have access to such a good school. It is the most affordable, most convenient, and really just an all-around strong pick (assuming I could get in) whether going for ATB or ADN...the thing that holds me back is that darn BSN being such a broadcasted necessity for nurses to have. I know not all of the hospitals in the Baltimore area require it to gain employment but I do understand that it makes you a more competitive applicant and that more and more are indeed posting it as a required credential. It seems like for the most part folks who don't get it now will end up having to get it later on, so I feel like it makes sense to just buckle down and knock it out sooner than later....? What are your plans with ADN? Are you in Day, Evening, Online..? Have you been satisfied personally with your experience so far? Thank you again for sharing :)
I'm at the Essex day program. It's a very tough program, a good portion don't make it through the program. Sometimes I wish I had attended a bsn program, because of the all the hard work I'm putting in that will only result in an associate degree. But I'm thankful to be in nursing school, getting into the BSN program can be very hard and yes hospitals are preferring the BSN. A lot of people in our school get jobs after graduation , but they have to sign contracts that they will be getting their BSN within a couple of years. I would highly suggest being a tech/student nurse in the hospital, that how people get hired the quickest. I graduate in the spring and plan to start an rn - bsn program that fall , If I can afford it. CCBC program is very intense and their program is not for everybody, but when you into the real world you will defiantly be prepared and the school has maintained a 90 percent nclex rate on the first try for the past couple of years while the bsn have not.
Thank you for your comments. It is encouraging to read about your experience and I am wishing you all the best in your studies.

These were great questions! I'll be starting ATB in the Fall of this year as well. Maybe we will meet.
Go get 'em, Lovinmy_curls! Hope you enjoy the program! Which university will you be obtaining your BSN through?

I'm applying for the Spring 2016 ATB program through CCBC and Frostburg! I'm taking the prerequisites (Chemistry, Statistics, Nutrition, and an Arts and Humanities course) this fall... I had no idea this was even an option until I met with the advisor and now I'm freaking out a little bit, lol! I hope everything works out for you and definitely share how it's going! :)

I'm also applying for the spring 2016 ATB program through Stevenson and Towson. I haven't been able to find many applicants on the forums, which is strange when you look at past admission cycle threads. I wonder if enrollment is way down this semester?
