Yes, I'm going to GCC, that is unless I change my mind, dump them and go to PCC. I'll make my final decision next week. But i'm 95% set on GCC. My hesitation is that the admin end seems not that supportive of the students. Put it mildly... they are grouchy it seems.
I've thankfully been admitted to both.
How many tries did it take for you to get into both PCC and GCC? Can I ask what your GPA was and your entrance test experience? I am about 4 classes away from applying to both and would love your imput. Thanks in advance and congrats to you!
I got in the first time. My GPA for the prereq's were high, like a 3.8 (but it doesn't matter) and I was finished with nearly all of my other classes for the AA degree. The TEAS test was hard I thought, but I did well. I bought all the study material from ATI and I feel it really helped. The test is fast paced.

It's a little eerie that I'm actually in the same exact situation as you are!! I have been admitted to both GCC and PCC (along with county) but I'm having the hardest time deciding which college to attend. I completely agree 100% that GCC's nursing staff is well, not so pleasant people and that's hindering me from making a clear cut decision to go there. Just curious, have you made your decision yet, and did you attend the PCC orientation yesterday? Also, one other question if I may ask, what made you choose Glendale over Pasadena? Thanks and congrats to you!! :balloons:

Congrats on getting in to so many programs. The county and PCC are excellent programs. The lady at Glendale (the linebacker who answers the phone & screens everyone at the door) is mean to everyone. Please don't let her sway your opinion of their program. My friend attends GCC & is happy. I attended PCC & can't say enough good stuff about them.
Can you tell me what the county program is that is mentioned in some of these messages? I am unfamiliar with this. Does PCC and GCC both require entrance exams?
Thanks!
Hi Jenpea71.
"County" is short for Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health and it's located next to the USC Medical center. I have heard that County has a great ADN program as well, which does require a pre-entrance exam (completely different than GCC/PCC). Personally, County was a little far and inconvenient for me to go to. Both PCC and GCC require the same entrance exam called the ATI TEAS in which you need a 67% or higher in order to get into the program even after you have been officially accepted. If you do not pass, you then follow a remediation plan but cannot start classes that semester. Hope this helps and good luck to you!
Hello kitten79.
Thanks!! Have you graduated from the program yet? Either way I commend you for surviving through it!! I would love to hear about your experiences in the PCC program! Is it really as hard as they say it is?? I agree about that lady at GCC, but it's not just her. I feel like the whole staff in general is less encouraging and less enthusiastic. I attend PCC right now and I love it here. I attended the orientation yesterday, and the people there are wonderful! My heart is telling me to stay, but my mind is telling me to go to Glendale (with the upgraded facilities and all). Any advice from a successful RN student? Thanks, I would appreciate it greatly!!
ebunnie I Pm'd you

Hi ebunnie05. I finished last week, we were pinned last Thursday night. I love the program at PCC. I, too, struggled between GCC & PCC. I am happy to talk to you about PCC if you attend.
