About 3 minutes from the patients house,the dispatcher tells you that baby appears to be crowning and the husband is still on phone getting instruction. You and your partener decide you need plan. you agree that both the adult and pediatric equipment need to be brought in, as well as the OB kit.you also agree that you will focus on the baby after delivery and your partener will provide care to the mother.Questions1-what should be the first priority when entering the scene?2-should ALS assistance be requested?3-What questions should you ask mother or father?

juniperpearl 29 Posts Sep 27, 2013 Is childbirth in the BLS scope of practice?What would your priorities be on a call involving bleeding, possible airway obstruct?What info do you think would be pertinent? Would you need to know things like how far along is mom? Does mom have any medical history? Just the answer to those questions could change the answer to the first two questions you asked about the scenario.Always, always, ALWAYS start with your basics ABC's.

Whenare you due? and How are they having twins? would be important to know....then what?
