Hello,

I was wondering which is the best board certification to go for in case management?

I saw the one by ANCC - The RN-BC for nurse case managers, and also the one CCMC - Commission of Case management Certification- that is the. Any helpful information on what made you choose your certification board will be appreciated. Thank you!

You can do either, but standard acceptable certifications for employment in this specialty is the CCM. Some places will also look at you well with an ACM too (this is good in the hospital setting). ANCC-BC is a bonus for most to take in any setting, but employers are not as focused on this being their acceptable standard. In fact, I know of CMs who either have both ANCC-BC and CCM or ACM or they only have CCM or ACM. Ask your employer and those within your CM market what is acceptable and preferred. Good luck. :)

I can't testify to the "best" case management certification, but CCM is one of the most widely recognized. I am a part of the American Association of Managed Care Nurses (aamcn.org), and they offer the CMCN (Certified Managed Care Nurse) prep course for certification which covers CM and Q&UM. It's a good introductory course to care management. It's a self-study course, that's now hosted online. They have a sale running on it until 5/19/2017 to promote the 2017 updates.
