Specialties Case Management

Specializes in Telemetry, School Nurse.

I would just like to hear feedback from those who have worked for UnitedHealth Group. I am currently considering a field case manager job servicing skilled nursing facility patients with United. Pros? Cons? I am located in North Carolina.

Cindylufus, did you take this job and if so can you give me any information. I am considering the same and have an interview next week. Thanks

I actually did take the position. I start on Monday, 9/8.

Sounds like it was a good interview then.. I am in TN and interview soon.. what kind of stuff was the interviewer wanting to know.. if you don't mind. Have you worked for an insurance company before?

I am interviewing for the same type of job so they are doing this in more states than here. I was told they were working for TN Care and didn't realize they were doing this else where..

Another question if you don't mind.. did they mention training? Thanks

Sent you a PM!

Hello. I am guessing it depends on your team leader. Three former co-workers who are performing telephonic case mgt and as you probably already heard, it is all about metrics. However, it is not the amount of calls they have to make; it is their team leader. They are looking for other positions outside of UHG, for their team leader is rude and condescending.

This is so much like Humana. They are nothing but numbers too. There are no standards for the coaches.. they can make or break the job. I called 225-250 monthly.. was not allowed to discharge or get rid of SNF pt's.. had one that was in Hospice for over 2 yrs. She had Hospice nurses to her house twice weekly. Then we were we didn't need to be licensed in any state but the state we lived in. I was calling people from WA to NC and carried about 11 licenses. They said they had their lawyer's check it out and we didn't need to be licensed in any state but the one we lived in. Well, at Humana if you question anything you are considered negative and not a team player. I questioned a lot and was not liked. I am an older nurse of 39 yrs, traveled as a Circulator in surgery to multiple states for 10 yrs.. I know better and you are not feeding me the kool aid.. sorry I still have anger issues with them.

Totally understand and agree in regards to asking questions, as that is the same with UHG, at least with some of the team leaders. I guess these team leaders feel like they are being challenged and do not want to answer specific questions for either they don’t know the answer and/or simply don’t care. Then as you said, you are deemed negative and not a team player. I feel it is very unprofessional and condescending for these certain team leaders “talk down” to their team members when they should be rallying around their team and wanting them to succeed.

Maybe the field case mgt positions are different as opposed to the telephonic for at least you get out of your home office now/then.

Cindylufus how do you like your positions with united now? Are you still working for them? Im interested in the same position too. Please give insights thanks.
