Interested in case management

Specialties Case Management

I've been working as an RN in the hospital for 6 years and I'm pretty burnt out. Someone had mentioned that I might enjoy case management. I've tried looking on indeed.com, and simplyhired.com but I cannot find many jobs. Most of the jobs I find seem like they are either short term such as 6-9 months, or they are with a company that is not directly affiliated in my state.

I am interested in case management outside of a hospital setting. I know someone who works at some drug safety alliance group and does case management such as writing reports. I've been trying to find a job like this but I'm not really sure where to look. I am merely an acquiantance to this person so I can't really ask her.

I have 5 months left of school and I will have my BSN. Can someone point me in the right direction? And can someone tell me more about case management.

Thanks!

Get hooked up with your local CMSA section and start networking. Most jobs such as you describe strongly prefer or require certification in CM either at hire or soon thereafter.

Insurance companies usually have some sort of case management position. I worked for both United Healthcare and BlueCross BlueShield, both are work from home with field visits.

Specializes in CCM, PHN.

Look at medical groups, dialysis centers, insurance companies, behavioral health provider groups, non-profit foundations, workers comp and public health departments. Case management nursing is like a mix of telephone triage and social work! PM me for more info, I'm a CM queen!
