Specializes in General Med/Surg.

Hello--

I am wanting to change my career direction and am thinking about going into case management for insurance companies or legal firms. I have many years of experience in nursing in all sorts of areas. Does anyone know how to break into this field in the Charleston SC area? I have read through many threads here and have looked at a number of insurance company websites under careers but so far nothing in my area. I did a google search for local insurance companies but nothing has turned up yet. Any thoughts? Thanks!! :yeah:

Do you only want to do case management or do you also have interest in doing utilization review?

Thanks for your reply--

I would be very interested in UR if I could find that type of work. The job arena in Charleston SC I find is quite limited for my skills/background. Would also consider legal nurse consulting--working with attorneys--but I don't have the schooling yet that I believe is desired for this. Any job leads for my area would be greatly appreciated! Gotta pay my bills...want to stay in nursing, but having tough time with it...

Hi Do you have work cover over in USA or similar. Insurance cover for people who are injured whilst at work. If so that might be a lead. Good luck.

Good luck to you!

HCA Shared Services in Norcross, GA has job openings for RN PRNs and some F/T RN positions working in the Appeals Department with experience in case management, UR and Interqual. They do need to have an ASN or BSN with an active GA license. www.hcahealthcare.com

I have checked into many of these type of positions and applied but when I talked to anyone, they want the experience. I would move to anyplace and give them time if they would train....it's so frustrating..
