Carolinas College of Health Science - schedule

Hi Everyone,

I have gotten accepted to Carolinas College of Health Science for Spring 17'. Very excited since I've heard that it was pretty hard to get into in the area. I am trying to plan childcare for when classes start and was wondering what a typical schedule would be? 7am-3pm or more like 6pm? I have already taken all the non- nursing classes. Thanks in advance for any insight!

Congratulations! I graduated from there a few years ago. For 101 (unless it's changed) you're in lecture Mon/Thurs/Fri and have clinicals every other week Tues/Wed (and things like sim lab, skills lab, medication skills check off, etc on the alternating Tues/Wed). If you have clinicals that week, you go to your unit Monday afternoon to get your assignment and do your patient research and then go home and spend several hours preparing for clinicals. Clinical days start at 0645 -- I can't remember when they end....maybe 1500 on Tuesday (off the floor earlier but then you have post conference) and a bit earlier on Wed. You're not in class all day Mon/Thur/Fri. It's an intense program but you will learn so much!

Is it possible to work and do the program? Say like a few night and weekends shifts? My nerves are a wreck, don't know if I should pursue this opportunity Spring 17 or prepare myself more financially í ½í¸©

I've been wondering the same thing and I'm starting spring 17 too! Before I made the plunge to apply I followed these boards for years to see if it was possible to work and do school (&I be a mom in my case) I thinks it's definitely doable of you don't have to take the general classes. Unfortunately, my AP class didn't transfer so I'm bummed out about that and now on the fence about he whole program. Did you do pre-nursing there? I feel like this whole reply was no help im sorry!

This is a career change for me. I have an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts so I didn't take AP 1/2, NUR 101 (duh,lol)or MAT 101(I took a different math) to earn my first degree. All my other pre reqs will transfer. Pre nursing is perfect for me and great way for me to earn a spot into the nursing program. However, I still have to maintain a livelihood. Im enrolled in an LPN program for Spring which included taking AP 1/2. CC has a LPN to RN route but someone told me I would have to re take AP 1/2 there so I contacted admissions and explained my story. She guided me to the pre nursing route. I had my mind set on doing LPNtoRN for any of the programs I was looking at but now I'm in limbo. :(

Hi guys,

So I am thinking about applying to Carolinas college of Health Sciences for pre-nursing and nursing (hopefully I get into the nursing). I have a high school weighted GPA of 4.3, the math and reading SAT score of 1050, and ACT score of 22. I am also a senior biology major although I will only graduate with about a 2.9 GPA. I had a few setbacks like a concussion from playing soccer for my college team. I will be finished with all of the pre reqs, so the pre nursing wouldn't be too helpful if I had to retake all of those courses because I did really well in them already. I was just wondering how many people typically get admitted into the nursing program each semester and if you guys think I would have a good chance? Any information would be appreciated! Thanks!

I had lower stats than you and got in. Same as you my high school gpa was better than my college and I think that saved me. I wouldn't both applying to pre-nursing but that's just me.

So you think that applying to pre-nursing will lower my chances of getting in to the actual nursing program? Also did you take the TEAS test and did you already have your CNA before being admitted?

When did you find out your A&P class did not transfer? I am asking because I would hate to pay the deposit only to find out that my sciences do not transfer over the the program
